Those with existing copies of Stranger should note that it appears not to update automatically - Launching the game triggers the update process.

But this is good news! Been waiting for this for a long time. Awesome work, OWI and JAW - I knew you'd get there eventually. :P

All the achievements should work since their triggers are the same as from the PS3 version. It may take a while for Steam to accurately reflect the data changes. I'll check tomorrow morning.

The game works (and looks) pretty awesome. Brings back good memories. The addition of achievements is pretty nice as well. 100% here I come!

I also noted you can unlock artwork. Pretty cool, but how is that unlocked exactly?

Hi, I have a problem with the game. In language I choose French and in audio I choose English but ingame the audio is in French. Do you have an idea of how to fix this problem ? Thanks.

Edit: I have tried the german voices and it work but the only way to play with the english voices is to play the game with everything in english (audio, subtitles, menu...)

Edit 2: When I choose Italian in language and English in audio, everything work normally... The problem is only when I want to play in english with french subtitles...

I'm not a big fan of Stranger but still i have to admit they did an amazing work; it look completly differen and way more beautiful.
Hope they will put the same kind of effort in AO2.

Took me the entire day to download it just to get an error saying "Game Application has stopped working".

Does anyone know what wrong with it? Because it's slowly pissing me off.

Might buy this so I can finally play through this damn game. I have it on xbox but it doesn't seem to work for 360, which is a piss-off. Plus shooters are just plain better on PC.

@Hulaa, have you tried re-verifying files and all the normal work-arounds? Does your computer have the needed specs to run the game?

EDIT: I left it to download overnight - Not only does it work a hell of a lot better than it used to, it also looks absolutely stunning. Thanks so much, people of JAW!

My only criticism is that you can't customise graphical settings as much as you can in normal PC games (texture quality, shadows, draw distance, shaders on or off, etc) which may give problems for people with slower PCs (Magicka gave me this problem when I had my old graphics card), but I suppose setting v-sync, resolution and anti-aliasing is enough.

@Hulaabeo, SWHD requires that you have .Net Framework and Visual C++ 2008 libraries installed, try looking after them if you don't have/you're not sure you have

Crysis and other games automatically check that you have those set on installation. Maybe in a future patch, Stranger HD could do the same if it requires them? Or do you need special permission from Microsoft to distribute them?

That's pretty standard for games ported from consoles. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any non-strictly-PC games that provide those options.

@Nate - I suppose most other console games which have PC ports have the advantage that the developers planned for that early in production. Stranger wasn't originally intended to ever be ported, I guess.

BTW there's a minor bug: Stranger now stays open in the task manager after quitting without showing on the task bar. It's easily fixed by closing it through task manager, but perhaps something JAW should be aware of if I'm not the only one to get this bug.

Your game creates a log file in its installation directory. Could you find it and send it to me?

Possible. We're finding a few things like that, for instance Steam reporting that someone is playing the game when they've shut it down. We're looking into it.

And it still hangs randomly for 3-5 seconds. Frequently. It's very annoying... I mean I *can* complete game with that, but it's frustrating and takes much of the joy of playing

I can imagine that's highly annoying. Try turning GPU sync on.

I'll note that GPU sync was on by default and made my framerate really slow, so I turned it off and my framerate skyrocketed. Not sure why that was, but SW worked flawlessly after that so I stopped caring. :P

Well my PC is shite so I can't run SWHD very well at all, but I must say it looks so much better. despite my frame-rate issues (which are my own) the game looks very nice indeed. Well done J.A.W.!
