Have they recreated the logo or used it from OW artbook or from somewhere else?

The logo isn't new it has been floating on the web since at least 1999 (13 years!)

The Hand of Odd logo appears on page 28 of the Art book. It’s the same logo, and both images appear to come from the same source file – the one on the web page is just smaller.

Well, reserving the web page is a good start. I wonder what type of game it'll be, though - RTSes aren't so popular these days. Let the speculation commence, I guess.

I think that the Oddworld wiwi thinks Stewart is really a Steven http://oddworld.wikia.com/wiki/Hand_of_Odd

:
Also Steven Gilray, the head of J.A.W, was holding an art book or something with the same Hand Of Odd logo on it as the original would have had.

It's on a wiki, it must be true!

Also from that page
:
Hand of Odd was going to be both an action-adventure/real time strategy game with gameplay almost identical to the 2009 game, Brütal Legend, which also utilized the ability to switch from third-person-perspective to RTS "aerial view".
EDIT:

But wait, there's more!

:
The game has many attributes for different characters. For the team "Land Muggers", you can use Lulu's attribute (rich) to give you more moolah every so often for a period of time, which can be used for souping up your team. You can use Humphrey's attribute (tester and tech master) to test upgrades on captured Tree Huggers (in other words, upgrades become more effective). Some team members have the same attributes as other members, so choice of characters can, in some cases, be purely cosmetic. The other team, "Tree Huggers" posses other atrributes. For example, Abe, has the attribute possessor, which can allow you to posses 10 units or 1 hero. Munch's attribute, freedom fighter, frees slaves and/or workers of Land Muggers and has high zap damage. BigFace's attribute is teleporter, which allows him to teleport himself or others to an area (or both himself and others), which is similar to what we see in Abe's Oddysee. The Three Weirdos have the attribute revival, which can bring back a hero or ten units. Finally there's the Almighty Raisin, with the attribute "the eye". This allows the player to see the other team's base at a cost of his "mana".
Have I missed something or has OANST been on the wiki?

@Clannfear - Starcraft is only successful 'cause of it's predecessor. Can you name a modern, stand-alone RTS released in the past 2 years that's become popular?

---

If that wiki article is still true, and it's still going to be like Brütal Legend, I have a small issue with that.

Brütal Legend's demo didn't show any of the RTS parts - Me and my (former) friend thought that the gameplay would be entirely be action/exploration based, like it is between boss fights, and shown in the demo.

When she got the full game and we both came across the first boss fight (we played it together and took turns while the other watched), the sudden RTS gameplay style change was a surprise to us. I took it in my stride since I've played RTSes before and enjoyed them, so for me it was a nice surprise and I found those parts fun to play, but for her it's something she wasn't familiar with - So therefore the sudden, abrupt genre-shift wasn't something she enjoyed.

So if Hand of Odd is like that, the RTS part should be a more major part of the gameplay - And players should be shown at the start of the game, and in any demos, that this is what the game will be about. It can work well, just lessons should be learned from what was wrong with Brütal Legend if they go down that route.

For me - HoO can be full-rts type game. It's shame that today games (most of) are creations for money-printing and masses. Maybe we need some revolution in genre? HoO could be that revo.

It's gotta be a damned fine game to be that revolutionary and get noticed in today's gaming market. Former RTSes were popular back in the day 'cause they filled a niche. Definite hats-off to JAW if they'll be able to pull that off - Hopefully the experience they'll get from upgrading/remaking existing OW titles should help them a bit.

I really don't like comparing Oddworld to Brutal Legend in any way, even if it is true. If it is true it shouldn't be on the wiki because we don't know it officially yet.

EDIT: Also, HoD was never going to be a full RTS. I don't think anyone's ever used the term RTS officially.

You know / what? / I don't / think I / can.

Most of those series started post-mid-2000's. One of them is truly standalone.

All of those feature strategy, appearing in real-time (Apart from Civilisation, I forgot that was turn-based for some reason). You have some pretty strange criteria if those don't appear to be RTS's to you.

Also, have you even played Retribution? Your comment might have been accurate concerning the original Dawn of War II, but it got revamped as an RTS for the expansion.

Yeah, well Retribution is often cited as the best of the series so far, so smash that into Uranus.

And FroSy is certainly not turn-based, despite the fact that it has turns.

Rather than each player making their movements in a magical time-warped state where only one player can do anything, the action is just paused entirely. Everyone sets up, and strategies unfurl in real time relative to each other.

I wonder if JAW is doing work for this game yet, that's a lot of projects for a small team to be working on at once. I guess the website might be the only thing that's been done so far but I wouldn't like it if Abe HD was delayed because of this.

It's not going to be a Facebook/casual game apparently but I'm guessing it will be a cheap, easily accessible game designed to attract newcomers to Oddworld, rather than a full blown retail price game.

It's Simultaneous Turn-Based (even the official site says that). It's not real time.

I don't want to argue with anyone, but look at popularity of Warcraft series - they are packed with great story, little rpg taste and graphics which don't get old (in my opinion to this day). Gentleman, that's the phenomenon.
