Slig in Dress

I was just looking at the Oddworld avatars that the forum offers. My question is where did the Slig in the dress come from?

After having a quick rummage through Xavier's lovely website (which you could have easily done) it would appear to be (promotional?) art from Munch's Odysee. Where he got it from I'm not exactly sure as I can't seem to find it in the art book.

A simple forum search would have told you that he's the glamorous host of Name That Trauma, a M.O.M. tv show in which muds are maimed horribly.

Yeah, but the Queen would have to lay a female slig egg once in a while ya know? Perhaps it was a very young female...

Since sligs go through what I only presume is a larval stage and from what I know from the Isoptera and Apidae, I would suggest that slig queens grow over time, evolving such a distended abdomen through ecdysis, therefore at first, female slig queens would look barely different to a normal slig. Nevertheless, a slig queen wouldn't be seen with a meep herding staff nor would I expect her to wear a dress and bonnet.

You never know, Sligs may work like bees, with the majority of them actually being female, now there's a disturbing thought.

They're more like sexless drones than females. Sligs, Mudokons, and even Glukkons aren't sexually male, they just have male personalities.

Funny that the only females so far have all been matriarchal bitches and sociopaths. I wonder if Lorne has issues with women.

MOD EDIT: The whole discussion on Eusociality, Super Queens and the evolution thereof that was sparked by this post has been split off to this thread here.

I'm an apiarist and they don't have the characteristics of a predominantly female eusocial species. I relate them to termites also because bees must put eggs straight into cells were they grow in very specific conditions, I expect some factors determine a queen in a mudokon society as bees do in that they feed a chosen egg a special type of food to stimulate ovaries and hormones but that is were the consistencies no doubt end.

The Slig in the Dress is from the canceled Hand of Odd.

"Tell me Abe, were you listening to the ancient mudokon chanters, or were you looking at the Slig in the dress?"

Where are you getting that from?

I was always under the impression that s/he was meant to appear in MO, given that s/he worked in television and not resource production.

Yes, she was going to appear on Name That Trauma along with the Gameshow Host Slig (later Valet Slig) in MO.
