On the 22 of February 2011 a massive earthquake devastated the New Zealand city of Christchurch in the CMD, toppling tall office buildings at the height of the workday and killing at least 65 people.
Fire and rescue crews said their resources were overwhelmed as they struggled to cope with large numbers of people injured and trapped in the rubble. Helicopters were used to douse some fires and a crane was called in to rescue workers from the roof of a high-rise office tower.
The 6.3-magnitude earthquake was the second in five months for the city, which came through a 7.1-magnitude quake in September without loss of life. But seismologists said this one struck closer to the city and much closer to the surface, making it far more intense.
300 are Confirmed missing and familys are being torn apart from the many lost in this terrible quake.
This is terrible, what are your opinions on this disaster.

It really sad when the mayor said, that he wasnt going to continue search parties in this office building because he was sure that everyone was dead there.
"I'm staunchly atheist, I simply don’t believe in God. But I'm still Catholic, of course. Catholicism has a much broader reach than just the religion. I'm technically Catholic, it's the box you have to tick on the census form: 'Don't believe in God, but I do still hate Rangers..'"

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that an extremely old historic church gets completely leveled by a natural disaster in a town called Christchurch? Probably. Moving on.
What a terrible, terrible tragedy. Really... that's terrible.
