Exclamation Fallout: New Vegas

This game deserves it's own topic.

I've played through the main quest once, but since there's SOOO much still to see I'm playing through the game once more with Hardcore turned on. It hasn't proven overly difficult yet, but then again I havn't even left Goodsprings yet.

Anyone else playing this gem of a game?

My mum wants it, so I'm going to get it without paying a cent.

I'm looking forward to playing it and hardcore mode looks great. I'm going to try y first playthrough with it on.

Could take a Looong time

This game could take forever!
Am level 20 and have not completed a third
of the main quest.
If you were not pleased with Fallout 3, don`t waste your money on New Vegas, however if you liked it this is a must have.
Some of the major players from Fallout and Fallout 2 have reunited to make New Vegas, and it shows. The goofy humor and pop culture stuff are back ie.
a sexbot named Fisto and the Holy Hand Grenade .

BE WARNED game is still buggy, one patch out but still need more!
Have encountered a number of these but they have not kept me from enjoying my time in the Mojave Wasteland.

If interested ,most every thing you need to know is here:http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout:_New_Vegas

Check it out.

BTW if you like playing THE BAD GUY this could be the best game ever.

I'm actually aiming to get every single achievement there is for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. But in both games the achievements are designed in such a way that you HAVE to play through the game at least 4 times (or 3 in Fallout 3's case) so that could take a while...

I bought the special edish with all the bling and only got 30 minutes of game play on it before my mum smacked me up the head and hid it for Christmas. It is sooooooooooo fun! Shame the map is so small in comparison to F3 though, however, as a fan of every single fallout game from 1-4, it's still 11/10 for me

I think that you could do that in fallout 3, I distinctively remember a kid from little lamplight with a head that could do that. Nevertheless, eurgh!

i am enjoying it, not at all addicted to it like i was fallout 3. i can only really play this one for 45 mins at a time then get bored.

i really enjoy it, but my main criticism is that it has 0% of the atmosphere that fallout3 had. it was like obsidian went "OK.. let's make new vegas bigger" and then just scaled shit up, then forgot to add in all the little details. there is far too much negative space in new vegas. pretty much every nook and cranny was filled in fallout3, as that is what bethesda do best. i have not once in new vegas gone dungeon crawling outside of quests, whereas it was a necessity in fallout3.

gotta say tho, the weapon/ammo mods are awesome, very deus ex like. also coolbeans how things are different valued now, like, metal armor is worth 6500 in this one!

If it hasn't the atmosphere of FO3, I don't know if I'd even like it. The dead yet highly-detailed locations are what I love most about the Fallout games.

How do you mean detail exactly? There's plenty to see around New Vegas alone, plenty of details in the hotel rooms and stuff. Heck, the Lucky 38's cocktail lounge is a completely useless part of the game, absolutely nothing to do there except stare out the window. Yet it's filled with more junk than you could possibly carry.

I think it feels more empty compared to Fallout 3 because DC is a dense urban area, while New Vegas lies in the middle of the desert, and that's supposed to feel empty.

What I didn't really like though is that this time you're not starting out in a Vault, nor are you associated with one, which makes for a kind of dull main character. The entire 'chasing my daddy' and 'family and friends back in the vault' thing gave the Fallout 3 character some emotion, which the current character is completely missing. You don't know or get to know anything about him except that he's a courier, which is pretty lame.

See, that's what a lot of people say whenever I voice my opinion about it. What they never seem to grasp is, in New Vegas, it physically takes fucking ages to walk around these large vast empty landscapes, and there isn't enough interesting content to justify this immense amount of time spent. In Fallout 3, however, I would gladly walk from one end of the map to the other, because there was so many things, everywhere. I really don't think saying "THE PLACE IS DESOLATE, AND ITS MORE SUBURBAN AND SHIT" justifies diddleysquat, because Fallout 3 was equally as desolate, but actually filled with content.

and about the cocktail lounge, that definitely illustrates my point. There are so many cells in the game that are exactly like it: Just space with no point whatsoever. Space with no air of an atmosphere to it at that. When I first went in the cocktail lounge, and all the casinos for that matter, I felt like I was playing a third-party mod of the game, not an actual commercial product. No character, just stuff.

Fallout 2 is the best in my opinion. It had endless complexity and detail.
