Have you ever encountered a ghost/UFO/cryptid/creepy shit?

A catch-all for our Mysteries of the Unexplained.

I saw a UFO a year or two ago. We heard this ringing noise, went out into the backyard, ringing stopped, and I saw a triangular thing vanish into the clouds silently and a plane came from the other direction.

I also saw a big shadowy catlike thing on the rocks up a Chinese mountain-range when I was younger.

No ghosts yet, however.

I only got this laptop recently, and until then had used a Desktop/Tower that was set up in the dining room. It was...okay, kinda slow-anyway, it was set up right in the corner, like so:

HALLWAY

Basically, from where I was sitting (ME) I saw this...grey...thing out of the corner of my eye, in the doorway leading into the hallway.

Not an alien, but a big lumpy mass, bipedal, about seven feet tall.
I saw it maybe 5 times, just for a second, and it put me on edge.

I'm certain I've seen soldiers running by a window when the blind is half down, that seemingly vanish as soon as I pull up the blind and look.

I think I've heard a hermit crab ghost or something once. For those who don't know they make a sort of clicking noise.

Some other time, I think I saw a white-masked man sitting in a tree staring back at me.

If this means I'm insane, so be it.

Oh, it is fun, the tricks that your eyes can play on you. I've had some weird hallucinations, but I can't pull one straight from memory.

I refuse to believe that these images are anything supernatural, as their cannot be ghosts or anything similar. I just don't think it's possible. Aliens are a different matter, but I doubt highly that there is anything living near us.

The day before Valentines I had the most horrible feeling all night that something dreadful was going to happen the next day, I couldn't even sleep due to worry and gnawing terror.

Turns out I was right.

I've seen ghosts before. Normally I see faint blue outlines wandering around the house, but one time I saw an actual person wandering to the kitchen, and I never saw this person before. So I freaked out and yelled for my parents, and I turned around. Within a split second the person was gone and to this day my mom thinks I'm a lunatic.

Fascinating. I wonder what causes folk to "see" things like this?

I'm not knocking anyone who believes in this kind of stuff by posting things like this. I am merely trying to initiate conversation with anyone who shares my opinion.

Not sure. It could be influenced by stories and such told to infants and children, or just the aftermath of watching a scary movie.

Yes, perhaps. I must admit, sometimes when I think I've heard something outside, I sometimes see shapes that aren't really there. There's usually an explanation for this, though, like a shadow, or a distorted reflection. If we're going to assume that there aren't such things as ghosts (I definitely am), I suppose it's a case of a very active imagination. If we're not going to agree, it's more a case of "let's move house".

I recall when I was younger having a Taz laundry basket, and it would scare the piss out of me at night because I saw it staring at me and grinning from across the room. It was Taz's head on a laundry basket, and you'd put the clothes through his mouth. I also recall that only started happening after my aunt had me watch Child's Play, or whatever that movie was. Not the best movie to show an infant obsessed with toys. Doesn't this happen because of a child's overactive imagination? That they see these things that is.

Some people never grow out of an overactive imagination though, which is where I believe a lot of these UFO sightings and ghosts are coming from. There's that, and sometimes people see things at night in a warped sense of reality, kind of like what happens after you have a seizure.

Or the person's on some type of hallucinagine.

I never understood why people would move into a house, see some creepy abnormal shit happen, but just assume it's temporary or someone's just trying to scare them. If it were up to me, I'd be as far away from the house I'm in as possible by now.

I remember my aunt used to have a bin… it was furry (possibly grey) and had a face on it. Scared the shit out of me, and it always seemed to be in a different room each time I visited. Guys in mascot costumes scared me, too.

As for paranormal phenomenon, I have a history of being both fascinated and terrified by ghosts and aliens, predominantly the latter. For a while I would refuse to look up enough to see the sky if I went outside at night, and although I loved books on UFOs and abductions, there were always passages and pictures that I would try to avoid looking at. The slightest noise at night would make me dive beneath the covers. And for the longest time I would always have goosebumps walking about my house in the dark, and leap up onto my top bunk in extreme terror of The Thing that lurked on the bottom bunk (virtually always unoccupied). It was never a specific thing, just… some entity or other. And it was always just a fraction of an inch from grabbing my legs as I catapulted up in a horrified hurry. I still instinctively have these insecurities at night when I’m home from uni. I always knew they were meaningless and unsubstantiated, but now I can only consider them residual and habitual.

I heard from a friend that his friend left his bedroom one night for a midnight snack, and going back to the room to find that it was completely covered in burnt matches. I hear they moved house within the month.
Even if it is one of those 'friend of a friend' stories, it's still pretty creepy.

I can't recall anything supernatural that's happened to me at all. Best I can think of was the other night while I walked down the stairs in the dark. It felt like I walked through a spiderweb. I'm terrified of spiders, but spiderwebs don't bother me much so I continued walking... until I felt this thing plant itself to my chest (around the same place the spiderweb collided with me) and started crawling around my chest. Needless to say, I ran as fast and as far as I could without opening any doors or breaking through any walls. After turning on the lights later, there weren't any signs of the spider or the webs, but I'd say that's reasonable because I'd imagine that spider would've pissed off like a rocket, and I would've destroyed the web with my body anyway.

I hate spiders so damn much.

I had a freind (who was a strong beleiver in ghosts and stuff.) who said, he once got up in the middle of the night hearing the sound of typing. Figuring it was just his sister typing madly away on MSN/Facebook, he opened the door and saw nobody at the computer but the keys were being pressed. Then they stopped. As if that wasn't enough, he then heard the sound of heavy boots going up the stairs. I wasn't actually there, but he wrote a small story out of it as homework.

When I was very young, I saw an episode of Scooby-Doo which scared me more than enough to have nightmares. Everytime I went to sleep there was this fan in the middle of the room which I kept thinking was a ghost with chains and stuff. I don't know how I could have made that kind of resembelance out as a child but I guess I could.

Again when I was younger, my parents and little sister were outside looking at the stars. I was getting cold out there and went back into the house. I heard something coming from the bathroom. Curious, I went to investigate adn found a manlike figure standing on the other side of the shower curtains. Scared like hell, I ran back outside and quickly forgot about how cold it was. I never told my parents or anyone else. To this day I haven't settled on what it was, an alien in disguise, a burglar, a hallucination or just a dream.

I'm sure I saw a ghost once. That was about 10 years ago or so.
It was basically a ghostly figure. I didn't see too much of it and I was too scared to move.
I'd prefer not to talk about it

My sister (whose been practicing far longer than i have) and I were going to cleanse my attic since it was bothering our family.
When we went up there to evaluate the problem, two shadows were apparent on one side of the attic.
I sheilded immediately (just incase), and we isolated them.
Thinking that was it, we called out any dark entities.
There were more than we thought.
On the other side of the room, one jumped out at me and knocked me backwards.
But with proper sheilding I wasn't harmed at all, and the problem is taken care of.

Lots of UFOs, but nothing special about any of them.

The problem is that I thought you were serious for 50% of this post.

This thread depresses me. But OANST's post cheers me right back up again.
