New FanCorner Moderator Nominations

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I am sad to say that my co-FCmod, Havoc, has decided to resign his position as moderator due to less free time and an increased amount of Real Life (boo).

So, rather than choose a new moderator ourselves as we have done for all recent new moderators, the admins, Havoc and I have decided to go back to the old, old way of choosing moderators and hold elections for a new FC moderator to replace Havoc and help lighten the load from my shoulders.

Mods will have access to all the controversial secrets of Employee Lounge. You will also need to help keep order in FC and NOA&L, mainly giving directions to newbies and keeping a look out for spam in new threads. Pm boxes tend to fill up quicker for mods, too.

Anyway, applicants should have been a member of OWF for at least a year and need to post frequently in FC.


Generally you will need to have made a good impression so if you're constantly in trouble with the mods, or have been in the recent past, then you can't bet on getting the job.



If you wish to nominate yourself for the role, post in this thread and announce it. In about two weeks I will close this thread and start an elections thread. I will try to be fair to everyone but if I really feel you're unsuitable I won't be accepting your nominations.

I realize now that I don't post at all as much as I should, however; I tend to lurk and read much more than I post. I only post when I have something extremely meaningful to say. Yet, isn't it a mod's job to keep a watchful eye?

Since I still want to have a vote in this, I decided to nominate someone who I'd like to see as FC mod in my place. But only if that person thinks he has the time for the job and actually wants to do it.

I nominate Carnix for the job for his activity in FC and his (almost exclusive) visits to art related topics.

Again though, I dunno if Carnix has the interest or time to do it, so until he accepts his nomination he's not on the list yet.

I won't pretend I'm all that likely to get nominated, but I don't want people to think I'd use my modding for dickery and laughs. If elected, I'd treat the position with the respect and fairness that I've seen all the mods present. This could be my chance to be taken (if just a little bit) seriously and not just sound like the meme spouting bandwagon leaper I've been in the past.

It may not seem like it, but I understand how things work. My modding would be very precise and deliberate, if an argument arose I'd get into the meat of it and find out if it's an ongoing PM based feud between users and what could be done to prevent it from happening again. I'm the bloody master of postorrhea; I know how to stop it when I see it or turn it into something good.

I could also do this for community hours at school, but that's a different story entirely.

Does anyone think I'm a valid candidate, or should I stop now?

I think you're as valid as anyone else in this thread, including me.

I know I don't post round FC much like I used to do when I was still green but to be honest that's because I don't like to feel I'm more boosting my post number rather than an artists self esteem by continually posting that it's an amazing piece of work after every picture/chapter of theirs, as a visitor I have always accessed Fan Corner a lot and held the amazingly talented people here in high regard.

I'd really like a chance to wang my epeen around a little more and show my stuff, I haven't got my own flashy low res/high res banner but I can keep my promise to be a damn good mod if I am voted in. I have experience about these kinds of things from other parts of the interwebs (As in; I can actually argue and deduce) and am lurking enough to get to the action in record time.

Kastere, since you've only posted in FC 52 times I don't think it fair to allow you to apply for the position.
Also, more significantly, you've recieved three infractions in the last year, one of which is unexpired, which in the elections of the olden days of OWF democracy was always a fairly valid reason to disallow someone from elections. Sorry.

WOF, if you'd applied to weeks ago, you'd be out of the 1-year-membership limit. As it is, you've just about been around a year, and you have over 100 posts in FC so you're in.

Ajiellyn has slightly less posts than I would like, but the whole dream thing gives her bonus points as Creator-Of-Probably-The-Best-Oddworld-Fan-Project-Since-Oddworld-Forums-Itself™. Basically that and the FC Library prove she is able to dedicate more time and effort than the average OWF moderator.

Also, there are way too many WOTA injokes in this thread.
