you don't need to stop in that screen see theres a bad ending and you stop in that screen if you have not rescued 150 mudokons or more.
If you have 299 mudokons before you get to the last screen you would end up with 303 because there is 4 mudokons in the last screen but there is only 300 mudokons  and if you want to get 300 mudokons look for the grren bottle clues
