While I have zero authority here, I have an idea, if anyone wants to participate, for the news threads to be cut down. Post (online) articles from blogs or newspapers and discuss them here. Ideally, try and keep articles international, so that overseas viewers can understand it. For example, posting an article about the Rugby World Cup or yet another Muslim panty-buncher would be okay, but not about the results of the Queensland elections or some sex scandal involving the prefect of Timbuktu.
