Gender?

Where have the gender markers gone?

Ah, something must be going on with the Forums right now. There are multiple things that are not working right now...?

Like what? The markers have been gone since the new version.

EDIT: My problem is that I can't use my previous av without people thinking I'm a girl!

Alcar is a very busy boy and hasn't had the chance yet to update all the themes for vBulletin #whatever we're up to. Give him some time and he will do it when he has less on his oversized plate.

I don't see a problem. If you wonder about the gender of a person then you only need to have a look at his/her profile.

Keep that so, please!
I always hated that horrible, pink color!

Ooh, that reminds me. One of the things Alcar is working on is the new 'Girly-Theme'. It's all done in shades of pink and will be compulsory for all members of the opposite sex.

I always found the gender symbol to be pointless. Who cares what gender someone is unless it’s relevent to the conversation?

Gender neutrality FTW.

I find it useful because saying referring to someone in the third-person singular can get embarrassing if you're trying to judge them just on their username. Example: I though Rexy was a guy for years...

Haha, very funny.
Seriously, why don't you guys just make a neutral color for the gender marks? Black or white or something else?
Actually, it only depends on you can recognize them at last.
So why this ugly pink color?

Yes, and I don't know how many people on other forums have thought that I was a girl due to my name being Arxryl. It seems like a girl's name but it's not.
(Ar-ks-ril is the pronounciation for my name.)

And I must've not been here for the pink gender symbols.

Maybe sometime in the near to late future we could get some black ones. or maybe a dark blue color.

Oh god, call the cops. Shit, we gotta get those symbols back for the very sake of our sanity.

You know, if you're really curious as to what gender the person is, their userpage will always have it available for you to looks at.

Of course you're right Ms Used. I'm just talking from a perspective of convenience that gender symbols should not be banished forever.

See? We need some quick reference gender symbols to determine whom exactly we are speaking to.
Although I'm glad you didn't call me a girl earlier on in my time here.

So what's the point now?
Are the mods going to make those gender symbols again? Or will they keep that so like it is currently?

The point now is that Alcar has more important things to do than fiddle with formatting the forums. He'll make the decision when he has time to do it.

Hang on, Used is back? I must be incredibly slow as I've only just noticed. Anyhoo, I find gender icons useful, it makes it easier to refer to/converse with someone and you don't call a girl 'guy' etc. also Arxryl, you're not a girl? I could've sworn you were!

Alright, the gender markers are not essential, but they are very convenient and useful, ergo let's have them.

Probably from your high emphasis on Christian morals, which is something found more typically in Christian women than Christian men from my observations. That's not to say you're girly, in fact, it's something to be cherished.

Or because of your avatar or sprites in your siggy, which appear as cute and elegent, another quality typically found in women rather than men. But still, not saying you'e girly, just different.

Just keep in mind that on the internet it's all images and words. That's all you get to decide whether someone is male or female (unless they have supplied actual pictures of themselves or have stated their gender).

I suspect that for 99% of members you would be looking down Mister Max. But Alcar will never grant that particular wish for his own special reasons.

Perhaps we could institute some sort of post rating system but only for the WDYLL thread, so we could at a glance know a member's attractiveness and thus his/her relative importance.
