Well yeah. It's nowhere NEAR complete, as you'll be able to tell as soon as your download finishes. And knowing me, I don't know if it ever will be completed, but yeah, I've started it.
This is intended to be an editable clone of the original Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus games, since level editors do not exist. At the moment, there is no proper editor, but the files can be edited with external programs - the level's appearance is just two BMP or PNG files(you can either have both the same format or one of each), which you can edit in any graphics program, and the level's solid/non-solid data is a plain text file with the .odd extention.
If you've created any levels in the old .lvl format, please convert this to .odd ASAP, as I will remove .lvl support in the next version. (Just add 0101 at the start, 00 at the end, and change the file extention to .odd if there's nothing new you want to add)
For those trying to edit the level data:
Now that multiple screens have been added, it's more complicated. The symbols are still the same - # is Abe's Start, . is empty space, < is a left hoistable edge, > is a right hoistable edge, and x is solid. However, the first four characters are now the size of the level. The first two digits are the number of screens horizontally, the second two are vertically. After that, I guess the best way to say it is think of the level as one huge screen, made up of 16x16 tiles. So the first character after those is for the top-left tile of the top-left screen, the next is the tile just to the right of it, and so on. Once you get to the end of the last screen, the next character is the first tile of the second row. And so on. Please note that the game does not yet recognize line breaks, so although you may put them in when editing, be sure to take them out before playing. (This includes after the level size). Take a look at the included file for an example. Editing the images is simply a matter of putting them together as one big screen. (The backgrounds don't have to align perfectly, as only one 320x240 segment is shown at a time)
Gameplay features so far(latest version features in bold):
