Calling all Galactic Civilizations players!
OT: I searched for the topic and couldn't find any threads, so here I go.
Has anyone else played this awesome game called Galactic Civilizations? It's like Master of Orion, except with better interface, better graphics, and although you can only play the humans in the first game for plot reasons, extremely customizable factions.
Although there is no multiplayer, they have something just as interesting called the metaverse. In it, you can choose to submit a game after it ends (sucessfully or not) and it goes onto a big list online. If you're score is high enough, you can even get into the top 10.
To give you an idea of the customizability, I decided to play a "Star Trek" themed game recently. I made the galaxy the largest size possible, made the star clustering tight, like in the real Milky Way, and named my faction the "United Federation of Planets" and my faction leader "Thomas Vanderbilt". I picked Universalists, the most balanced political party in game, and gave my faction a wide variety of bonuses. Then, I changed a rather Orkish(Warhammer 40K Orkish) race called the Drengin from Pure Evil to Chaotic Good, then renamed them the Klingons. Then, I continued with the other races, from Altarians to Vulcan, from Arceans to Romulans, from Torians to Ferengi, from Yor to Borg.
So far, in my game the Federation has come into contact with the Klingons first, and a few other minor races. Also, the military is coming along nicely, with several Corvettes in every system. And my morality (influenced by choices I make in random events) is so high its changed my interface to a bright and vibrant one.
So, what tales do any other owners of this game have to tell?
