There's a difference between spam and going off topic. Spam is random nonsense that people post out of the blue. Going off topic is when a different conversation is born from the original one, which isn't nearly as bad as spam.

This, my friend, is going off topic.

Now stop getting in a hoot about a little discussion that doesn't involve your welcoming back.
