Why don't they...

This thread is for things you think people should do, rather than being morons.
I say:
Why don't they clone Dodo's, Tasmanian Tigers, Elephant birds etc. and bring them back from extinction? I mean, come on! They have Dodo skin, a young tasmanian tiger in formaldehyde...they have access to the DNA, why don't they use it goddammit!
PS: Some of you may contradict that saying that you need a host etc. True, normally but:
There are similar enough animals today. Pigeons (Dodo's are closely related), Tasmanian Devils and Ostriches. Also, I was told by my science teacher that there is a technique of new cloning in America that works without eggs etc. and people can pay...was it $20,000? I think it was, or summat like that to have your pet cloned. Why someone would be sick enough to do that, I don't know, but....seriously, Dodo's are more important than yet another cat/dog of which there is already millinos of them chewing birds and stuff, seldom start cloning THEM. B*stards...
There, I've had my rant. Next post puuuuuuh-lease!*bricked*

A huge (to 9 ft.) extinct flightless bird of Madagascar. Apparently.

GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND!

(I'll leave it for someone else to stump up the photoshopped elephant head on a bird's body shall I? )

Screw Dodos... we need to bring back the Mammoths!

No, seriously, I think that cloning is just messed up. It's unnatural, especially with things that have been long extinc.

And... why Tasmanian Devils? Those slow, agressive creatures are pretty lame, in my opinion.

Pigeons are smaller than Dodo's, the size of the Dodo egg would rip the pigeon's rear end to pieces.
Tasmanian Devils aren't closely related enough to Tasmanian Tigers to be impregnated with a Tasmanian Tiger embryo.
And the same thing as the Pigeon applies to the ostrich. Ripped rear ends all around.

There has been talk that the company that clones pets is scamming people. They regularly supply pets that look similar but not the same to the original pet. They pass this off as mistakes in the cloning process but many people believe that they just buy similar pets.
Also, the way that works without eggs is that cats and dogs don't lay eggs .

I feel in would be a great door opener in terms of medical science and science in general. By medical science I mean being able to grow organs and eliminating the need for donors. It would also make experimenting on human tissue safe, we would just need to clone the tissue needed. The technology for all of this will be here long after I have departed, but it makes sense to keep supporting cloning when you see all the ending results that could take place.

And... why Tasmanian Devils? Those slow, agressive creatures are pretty lame, in my opinion.
I mainly meant Dod's because they are recently extinct and becasue of human actions, they did not become extinct naturally. And hopefully, people nowadays have a bit more sense not to kill off things that are almost extinct. Well, sort of.
Cloning, lets say, dinosaurs in some ways would be bad. It would at least help us learn more about their behaviour etc., but then they might break out, eat people and they've been extinct for 160,000,000 years. Just an example, I don't think we can clone them, we don't have access to the materials. Jurassic Park was fairly innacurate, the chances of that happening a zillions to 1, if not entirely impossible.
Tasmanian Tiger. Tasmanian Devils were the creatures that may be used as 'hosts' or whatever for the clone. And just becasue I creature is your opinion 'lame' that doesn't mean we should kill them all off and not care or try to do something about it.
Mammoths became extinct naturally. But what I was thinking is, if a creature nowadays became extinct naturally, people might still think its their fault. Are pandas dying out because of us quite that much? Well, maybe they are, but still, if a species is becoming extinct without much contact with humans ever, it may be unnatural to try to keep the species from extinction if its meant to go extinct.
With the pigeon, it would be a new embryo inside the pigeon. The pigeons body would be incabable of growing it that big inside it. It may be a midget Dodo permanently, or when it hatches it may grow to normal size. Dodo eggs may have been larger than pigeons, but a single Dodo egg instead of multiple pigeon eggs should/could work.
To my knowledge, Tasmanian Devils were closely related enough. I'll ahve to try wikipedia or summat later.

Simple answer: We don't have any room. This planet is overpopulated as it is. We barely have room for the species we left alive. If we were to bring species we ran into extinction a long time ago, we'd have some serious problems.

Good point.
I think maybe that humans should become extinct so that the earth would not die horribly from all this pollution etc.
Part of the point of this topic was to comment on peoples ideas and then post your own "Why don't they...". I've only got comments so far.

I think it would be nice if we cloned extinct specie and brought them back, of course, we would probably just end up cloning them to hunt them again.

...such is humanity.

Human might die out anyway. What I thought is that since we have such 'good; medical care nowadays, humans are too clean too and will have little chance to build up immunities. Thats why people have more allergys nowadays, and eventually the extent of these could become ridiculous, and a new disease could do some serious damage. Hopefully...:P

Ok lets begin! This is my views on the human race and the world around it. This is my little rant. So the english might be confusing in some cases so bear with it.

Start extinction...yes we should bring back the animals that we killed off. But us humans haven't pefected the cloning process. There were number of defects in creating Dolly the sheep. Was that out of practice...no cause they create something else with similar problems. The animal they were came up with half zebra, half something else.0_o Don't ask!! Plus in doing so aren't we playing god.

So....if the cloning have been perfected. Wouldn't it turn to greed of living forever. You guys are thinking the world is over populated and some humans should die. Let me put this across. Are we really the pre-evolution of apes? I would say no, not just cause of Adam and Eve. We do not belong in any food chain. But dominate all animals! Biggest animal is the whales and there people who eat them. So the point is, we don't belong here! Are really helping the environment or are we really helping ourselves?

*STOPPED*! Head gone blank

A ranter like myslef. I think we'll get along :P
I didn't believe in Adam 'n Eve. I thought it was just a story explaining why God made people. Now I'm starting to doubt more than ever. If God creates anything, the slightest tweak to it will set its future destiny forever, so what would the point have been on creating Earth and putting humans on it just so they can ruin it thoughroughly? Seems a bit dumb to me.
Halk Zebra, half horse thing. I know there was an animal called the Quagga that had part Zebra stripes and the rest was brown. But we killed them off too. Another candidate for cloning. Playing God is technically impossible, for that would mean being abl to do anything purely by thought. It would take more than infinity yearsto make something capable of doing that. Even if it was created, the power it would require would be ridiculous. One atom split/splice uses about, maybe was it the whole of London's yearly worth electricity source? And thats using it once. Imagine something that can alter anything at mere thought. To powert that? Whoo.
I'd agree with 'playing God' but in the way I meant it, for good purposes, not c*ap ones. At least a good hope here is if another meteor hits Earth bringing general extinction. Humans hath such a routined life, the change would be inplausible.
But then again, the governent almost certainly is already living in secret simulators on the Moon/Mars/whichever,but use fake backgrounds and highly advance robot things to make it look like they're still on Earth. Maybe thats why they don't careabout what happens to people on Earth becuase they don't live there anymore. The governemnt has tons of these c*ap secrets and things that they are hiding from us. If they wante, they could destory Earth easily. America has 100 atom bombs, but since they're more modern than the one in japan, each one has more destructivepower than every other explosion ever including the two atom bombs that have been used in other times of history. So...if one goes off 'accidentally' by 'Tony Blair (robot)',or 'George Bush (robot)', then we're sorely f*cked. And thats just one. If all went off, maybe Mars would get knocked out of orbit. Or maybe thats more likely than we think.
And I have no choice about what happens on this planet. Maybe I should just go mad and kill as many people as possible before myself. Maybe it'll help a bit.

...hopefully I won't get too depressed later after this rant :P
I rival foamy in ranting powers. Believe me, I'm serious :P

EDIT: Just got a chance to look at Jacobs link. Everyone should just make do without. But there'sso many influencing adverts, even in newspapers (so that ruins the whole point of puttin 'Nuts!' magazine and others higher up, because there's still stuff in newpapaers, TV guides...the like), and too many people are perverts nowadays. You know its true.

You ever walk into a super market and see those deals like 4 for 10 on oven pizzas? Well I had a really brilliant thought: Why don't they just sell them for $2.50 a pop? I wonder how many pizzas went unsold because somebody didn't want their pizzas in a multiple of 4. What about all the people who say to themselves, "I wish I could only get 3 pizzas" or "6 would be perfect for me, but alas, I'm stuck with 2 less or 2 more pizzas than I want."
Why don't they put headphone jacks on television sets so when people are sleeping you don't have to sit close to the television to hear what the !@#$ is going on and you can listen to it at a reasonable volume? This would get a lot more use than the V Chip. Another thing, you know how when you go to the bank they have those things that keep the banks from being ripped off by people taking pens, right? Don't they realize that they lose pencils, too?

I was watching the other day the movie 6th day. It triggered me to go back to this topic. Cloning. How would you feel if you found out that you have been cloned? Or the organs that you have were GM? Your brain would not accept that you are real. One important element would there the soul.

Lots of scientist have said that they have never located the soul. This is stupid. If the body dies, the soul leaves. Going up or down or stand watching the doctors working to resurrect the body.

Statikk I don't get what you are portratying. Pizzas and banks. If you talking about people behaviour then that is understandable. What annoys me is the prams and buggies. They are bigger each time I see them. Forcing me to walk on the road facing an oncoming car. Like the act of royality. "They should push on the road. "Joke! Make them smaller more than a double decker pram or something.

2 parter
Part 1: The pizza, headphone jack, and pencil thingy are things that people should do instead of being morons.
Part 2: That is a Tarrasque, the original CR 20 bad ass in the Dungeons and Dragons world. Making it from level 1 to 20 and killing the beeyotch is like a rite of passage/badge of honor for those who roll d20s.

Why don't they introduce better technology into sport? Such as a laser detection that can tell when the ball has crossed the line in soccer?

I think you'd still need an umpire in baseball to call strikes, balls, and safes verbally but that is a good idea. I'm always watching baseball on FSN and they have this little strike zone box go on the screen and they always say stuff like "Oh, that really shouldn't have been a strike." If FSN can afford why not MLB?

I think a lot of people prefer the human touch. For instance, a while ago they put a microphone in cricket bats to see if they had been closely nicked by the ball and people hated it because it made the game too cold and scientific.

Yeha, nowadays everyone is biased in football (referee's races for example) and what sucks is how exact it has to be in official games because noone can take a hint and just accept winning/losing. Its ridiculous. The world cup's stupid, anyway. Football will become a religion soon enough, mark my words. Everyone praises it so much...
