I'm not, and whats so bad about eating meat anyways. If God didn't want us to eat it, he wouldn't of given us the choice, Thats the same reason why the Amish are so dumb. Really, We have technology for a REASON!!! *sighs*. We have animals for us to eat. If We were all meant to survive on Vegetables. We wouldn't survive. I say go meaty. It tastes good too.

No. Stick with what you believe in. Talk to your school authorities and ask for more vegetarian-friendly meals. Explore your local area and search for places that specialise in vegetarian food. Get onto Google and start searching for some great vegetarian recipes.

I applaude your diet and admire the thought your are putting into it.

Unless you're a vegetarian for ethical reasons, in which case there is clearly something wrong with not being vegetarian.

It's not my personal diet, but I agree with Max, do what you want if it's what you think is best for yourself.

I would definatley try this stuff called Boga Burgers, they're like hamburgers only composed of soy beans and other stuff, and they have a better taste in my opinion.

Well if you're a vegetarian, and your wondering to wether or not you should stop being one, you should ask yourself why you are a vegetarian in the first place. Why did you stop eating meat two years ago? Because you don't like it, because you care about animals? Because you want to 'fight' the meat industry?

I love animals, but I also love my meat every evening. Hamburgers are the best ^_^. Anyway, if the reason you don't eat meat is for religious reasons or just out of principle, then I say just stick with it and ask the school to revise their vegie stuff.

And I would like to know why you're a vegetarian, btw? If you don't mind me asking .

I've been a vegetarian since conception*; I just don't like meat. Even as a baby I would spit it out. But I do eat chicken soup, for some reason.

But it can be tough being a vegetarian, especially if (like me) you don't like certain vegetables. It's even worse here in the USA; I haven't seen one purely vegetarian restaurant in the last nine months.

If you want reasons to remain a vegemetarian, read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism#Motivation. The one I find particularly convincing is that it is incredibly inefficient to produce meat; it takes at least four times as much energy to produce a pound of meat than a pound of grain (and that statistic can go up to as much as 54 times).

*My mother had anti-cravings for meat when she was pregnant with me and my sister, who is also a vegetarian. But with my brother she had cravings for meat and he's a huge carnivore. Which begs the question; did her natal cravings affect our tastes or did our biologically-programmed tastes affect her during pregnancy?

Embrace your inner Omnivore! That's the best thing about being a primate, is that we're able to digest both plants and meat. Don't feel bad about eating other animals; it's natural, and a basic part (or the only part) of the food chain. And I tell you, broccoli, spinach, or a salad goes great with any slice of meat.

Homo sapiens evolved in such a way that they have teeth specialized in processing both plant matter and meat. We have canine teeth for hooking and shredding, incisors for chopping both plants and meat, and molars to crush and mash it up for safe passage. There's no reason to stick exclusively to one or the other, because we weren't born that way.

I choose to eat both of them, because it feels natural (though I won't lie; I prefer meat).

On a side note- I hate people who kill for sport. There's nothing admirable about having a stuffed deer head hanging above your couch. You're not a "bigger man" for killing such a beautiful animal, then decapitating it and throwing its body in a dumpster outside of the 7/11. If you're gonna kill it, eat it, and THEN maybe save the head as a trophy.

*I have never had venisin, one of the biggest regrets I have after leaving Wisconsin and moving down here.

If you like being a vegetarian, then by all means, be one.

But if you don't, then eat meat. It's just that simple. The flesh of animals is yummy. Besides, animals have very few functions in human society; one of the main functions is being delicious.

EDIT: Sucks that you never had venison, Dip. It is quite delicious. My dad hunts for meat, and mein Gott, it's great in a sandwich. Plus, you pretty much have to eat it rare. Anything above rare and it dries up and loses all its flavor.

Animals pollute our air and water, and make living quarters out of what could be fine building lumber. The cheeky bastards.

Are you seriously going to base your decision on what a bunch of strangers on a forum say? =/

Meh, do what you feel is right, blah blah. But meat is delicious, you crazyhead.

The actual focus of your dilemma just struck me. The problem is not you yourself but the inability of your local society to provide for your needs. You shouldn't have to give up on anything just because everybody or anyone else disagrees. Don't be pragmatic about this one: it really is everybody else's fault except yours.

I haven't yet succummed to arguing whether vegetarianism itself is right or wrong. That would only mislead you.

I'm not picking, you should eat both meat and veggies, like an Omnivore,(just learned that word, lol) That's what i am, so, there you go.

It's basicly what we all are. But if people choose not to eat meat out of principle, for what ever reason they may have that princible, then thats their choice. Their not harming anyone with it. Quite the opposite in fact: MORE MEAT FOR US! WHOO :P.

Im not gonna pick an answer because i don't wanna tell you what to do... But ask this to yourself: Is being a vegetarian a problem to you in any way? If yes, maybe you should consider to stop, depending on how big the problem is. Is no.... then do what you want... I was once a vegetarian, but... Well... meat is just too delicious not to eat

I would strongly recommend you stop being a vegatarian before you mess your body up due to malnourishment. If you truely want to become a vegatarian, learn a little about diets (like "What combination of veg gives me all the amino acids I need to make proteins?" and "where can I get enough protein and vitamins to survive?"). Otherwise, you seriously risk your general health.

Vegatatrianism should NOT be a fad, something you just DO. It should be a life choice, like choosing not to drive a car, something you need to plan out before hand and stick to.

Tough question. So I'm not gonna say yes or no.
Disclaimer for rest of post: I'm not knocking on anyone who is a vegetarian, and I'm not trying to convince anyone to change their eating habits. So there.
And now ....

Look! The food pyramid! It's easier for us, as humans, to go by this set of guidelines. I know that we have a choice in what we can eat, but isn't it much more of a hassle to go out of your way to avoid eating anything that an animal produces (like milk, cheese, etc., aside from just meat)? I know that there are vegetarians who do that. Right on for you if you can keep it up and aren't malnourished or anything.
I find this interesting: some of us think it's wrong to eat other animals. This being the case, does this make it wrong for other animals to eat each other? Were the only animals to have instances of sitting down and thinking "Hey ... I'm killing and eating lower beasts to survive! I'd better cut this shit out!"
:
But Dave! Other animals have to do it to survive! They have no other alternatives, and we do! Besides, it's nature/God's plan/insert other explanation here.
You're right. I know we have a choice. But we evolved to live on both animals and plants for a reason - it works for us. I just think it's easier to do the Omnivore.

I was going to become one, and then I realized that heavily seasoned and processed meat by products are too good. The bratwurst is the pinnacle of human culinary achievement. Aw hell, its actually the pinnacle of human achievement.

I had thoughts of becoming a vegetarian as well, but after some thinking then I realized that it would be too hard to change the food circle from meat to vegetables. So I'm still eating from the "food pyramid"

If you don't want to be a vegetarian any longer then you should quit, it's up to you. It could become difficult to change food habits, when you've getting used to the food style you follow.
