Nah, they seem to enjoy themselfs. And they have a weapon, so their not realy slaves as they could just walk right out the door. Their just to stupid to comprehend that. So no.

Hehe wow I saw a topic like this that was made a long time ago in 01 and everyone said they felt sorry for them. Although I have mixed feelings about sligs. So I can't really give an answer.

They're very much artificially-created antisocial psychopaths. Supposedly, they were a peaceful race until their queen started beating them from birth and shipping them down to the nearest waste dump. I feel pity for the state of their race as a whole. But think about this. From birth, they get beaten by mom, then they get beaten by each other (Training in the Slig Barracks), then they get beaten by their bosses. So, when the see Mudokons, they beat them. It's the only personal-relations habit they've ever really experianced or known, so it psychologically makes sense that they would do that...that, and they might be racist.

They're not slaves, though. They get paid salaries.

Like Nepharski, I pity the state Sligs are in more than their treatment by the Glukkons. They love what they do. What saddens me is that they're conditioned to love what they do. It's a kind of psychological slavery they're not even aware of.

That said, you can't help but shed a tear for the poor Valet Slig, can you? Awwww…

Well if you want to be pedantic, then that's acurate. But there comes a point when you want to pay homage to good characterisations by supposing some kind of emotional engagement with them.

Yeah, Sligs really ARE too stupid to realize that they are slaves. Plus they have guns. If they realized they were slaves, they could put those guns to use, ya know.

Isn't it amazeing how characters are seen in Oddworld? Lanning is a truely creative person by createing characters that we can easily relate to in real life. You feel sorry for sligs because it reminds you of aspects to people of real life. I mean what in the real world relates to a slig? I always woundered what inspired Lorne for the creation of the slig?

Cops are like sligs, they is. Triggerhappy cops.

I don't ****ing feel sorry for them - If them not existing isn't enough, they beat mudokons and such. Why the hell would I feel sorry for a slave beater, hmm?

I think this raises the ultimate question, will there ever be a friendly slig? If Sligstorm had been made, would the albino slig escape into the wild and grow up in the company of native mudokons? what impact would this have in Mudos? (however small)

Wildum was a pretty friendly Slig until he was beaten to death with his own arms. I don't think the impact would be substantial. If the Albino Slig Grub can escape, no doubt it's happened before, and industrial Sligs are trained to reject them as unnatural. Plus, being in the wild, they'd have no pants, no weapons and - presumably - no masks. They'd be useless in conflict.

Doesn't Skillya the slig queen get her offspring all beated up. They can't decide what they want to do, sligs are lead to either the steroid pumping (big bro) or in normal guard duties without any decent training.
And I've got the idea that Skillya wasn't the nicest mom to have.

There could be a friendly slig if he wouldn't get beaten or anything..

I love sligs, so yeah, I may feel bad for them.

But then they get Mechanical Pants, and plus, its their natural ways. Thats just how they are.

Now someone said that Sligs would be happier if they could do what they wanted...........and I think that beating Mudokons IS what they want to do. Unless of course, they are friendly towards Mudokons.

Oh, I think completley different. Totaly nice and calm.
They gain their violentness from the Glukkons. Everytime they are beaten, they just turn around and take out their scaredness and anger on the Mudokons. Plus they see the Glukkons doing it to them and other Sligs, so they think it's okay.
