Oddworld makes the cover

This may have been posted already, but I've been gone longer than some of you have been alive (Depending on your definition of "Living"), so blah!

I was strolling through the local bookstore when I spied a tome titled Video Game Art. It was factory sealed, so I couldn't open it, but I glanced at the cover, which was holographic. The initial image was that of the world-famous Solid Snake of MGS fame. I shifted the book so the light changed and the second image revealed itself as...Abe!

Nice to see Oddworld Inhabitant's grand work associated with Hideo Kojima's masterpiece, on an equal level. Boo-yah!

The backflap also mentioned PsychoNauts in there, so if anyone has actually purchased the book (I'm pretty much broke right now. Christmas shopping), any information you could offer would be flavorful.

Just Video Game Art, because creative names hurt the economy, apparently.

I couldn't. In fact, the search term "video game art" returned just 5 results from all auctions across all local eBays.

I'm pretty sure it's brand new, so it won't be on the VL auction block for awhile. However, you should find something if you try Amazon.

Did it have alot of Video Game art in it?

Once I saw this book in a bookstore, about the best video game heros, and included Munch's Oddysee, it was a page or two. It wasn't that much of a suprise for me.

I don't know. The book I found was sealed (Have to by it to open it). I suspect it was mostly an analysis.

Tell you guys what: If i get enough money for Christmas, I'll see if I can purchase it and tell you what it's all about.

May I be the first to say: Holy crap it's Nepharski!

Secondly: The book sounds like something I would purchase, so I will definatley look into it. Even from the cover it sounds somewhat costly, mind you.

Too late; I already said it.

Barnes and Noble don't have it in stock but they are ordering it in. I've no idea when it will arrive though so I'll keep an eye on it.

I'm not the type of guy that would buy a book because it displays an picture I allready have...

I think it has Darkwatch art in it too (a game made by ex-oddworlders)
but I was wondering if someone could find a list of the games represented in that book?

It looks like it's not just random art; it's also talking about the inspiration behind the games which should be interesting.

:
Video Game Art is a first look from an art history and post-modern cultural perspective at the influences behind, and achievements of today’s genre-defining video games. Examining themes such as character, environment, and the growing place of video games among more traditional art forms, and including commentary from luminaries of the field and often unpublished behind-the-scene art of both past and upcoming games, Video Game Art is a pioneering foray into what promises to be the dominant art form of the coming century.

Never judge a book soley by it's Abe-featuring, holographic, limited-edition cover.
