We want to need an Oddball hero !

I read his Blog(Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 12:05 PM; 'The Ico syndrome')

:

o Oddball hero. Doesn't the boy have horns? If so, this game has the same problem that the Oddworld games have, a quirky hero that's hard to relate to.

We have to object argued against what he said.

Now you're getting wet over the guy? He doesn't even LIKE Oddworld, and he's somehow the topic of the day because of some obscure refrence to the series, and how he's somehow associated with Max Payne.

And what the hell does "We want to need" mean?

He uses to have been very influential in video game industry.

I seem that he is criticizing niche video games like oddworld,ico.

If that's his opinion, let him have it... There are alot of games i don't like. That doesn't mean nobody has to like them? And does my opinion count lesser just because i'm not some professional gal in the comp-industry? Opinions are opinions. let him have his, and you keep to yours

His words aren't gold just because he's in the game industry.

Listen, just because you see the word Oddworld somewhere doesn't mean you have to come running over here and show us all some obscure refrence to the game.

And, like T-Nex said, the guy's not a golden god just because he works on games. You shouldn't worship people based on profession.

You mean on the point where the Oddworld characters are hard to relate to?

I guess to a level, thats the case in fact. The characters are very interesting becouse of their appearance and the enviorment they live in. But it's indeed kinda hard to relate to any of them. Abe and co, the glukkons, the sligs, neither of them realy have personalities you can relate to as you can with say, Bambi (random refrence, cuz everyone says it's such a touching movie).
You can maybe to Stranger, cuz they gave him a more deeper character.

But yea... This Scott guy is kind of right... I really loved the OWI games, but i did miss that personal touch to the story...

He might have. But i don't think OWI put enough effort into showing his personality... There aren't any scenes where you really feel his feelings. Maybe except when he sees the moon and stuff... I think the story is very objectively told.

I really dont understand how you think coldhearted Stranger(No offense to him, I love his story)has more of a pesonal touch than sweet, sweet Abe.

Abe is cute becouse of his foolish behaviour. The 'oops', the 'I forgot he was blind', the 'promise?'

But nowhere we realy see his true character. Well, maybe on the meetle balloon on the end of MO. Just a tad.

And as fro stranger, I've always kinda liked the roughe characters, bounty hunters. Go check the TC RPG link in my signature and read it from the beginning, my RP character is exactly the same. So maybe thats why I relate to Stranger a bit better.

Abe is a bit pushed by the events, he doesn't decied much by himself. He has a strong personality but it isn't much seen.

plus people tend to relate to the look of a character and less to the personality

I dont think that is really true. Yes, Bigface, The Wierdo's and The Almighty Raisin push Abe but I think he is very into saving his kind. He knows he is the only one that can save them and at times gets tired of it, but I think he really enjoys knowing that he saved a bunch of his buddies from getting beat up and possibly killed.
