Back in Blank
To be honest, I just wanted a proper welcoming back. Oooh, selfish me.
Yeah, I got back from Thailand a week ago, and my computer got resurrected just today, so I thought it would be appropriate to drop in and see how everything and everyone was doing. And to tell you all I'm so fantastic, too.
Truth is, I don't know how much I'll be around in the future. The next two weeks are completely free for me, so it's pretty much a given I'll be bored enough to hang around a lot. After that I've got a two-week biology field trip, and then school starts again. That's the tricky one. The question is, do I have the self restriction to avoid the Oddworld Forums and other online distractions to do my schoolwork? I didn't last year, and I paid the price for it in lessons. I want to live up to my potential next year, so I should bring things down a notch, but I really don't want to leave. That just seems … a bit rude of me, I guess.
But anyway, the important thing is that I had a kickass month in Thailand. We trekked through the hills and jungle of Chiang Dao, visited the Bridge Over the River Kwai and Hellfire Pass, spent a short week with an Akha hilltribe, lending a hand building their new sala (sheltered platform), then just chilled in Jomtien on the south coast for the rest of the trip, quite near to the seedy Pattaya. Very seedy. Go go bars, ladyboys, and the unforgettable Boyz Town. Tee hee hee. There's a website I'm putting together for our parents and friends to showcase the group's diaries and photos, just a blog, really. I'll give the address when it's viewable.
Great to be back amongst such great people. Keep up the general awesomeness.
