you after Spore:Lorne who? what was the hand of odd again?

http://www.gamespy.com/articles/595/595975p1.html

http://www.pqhp.com/cmp/gdctv/

^go to will wright's video, just give it any email...wont spam (or use mailinator)

boy, remember how Lorne had us agnst about a living enviroment with life cycles and gawk at the idea of a ODD rts/civilization sim?

well, spore is all that, and much more, not only it has real life cycles, but that biologic and natural feel actually comes from the users, the users design creatures and the creatures live out their own lives in their little planets, creating balance according to their ability to survive.

All the creatures are ultra odd...one of the sections of the trailer in the second link actually looks just like treehuggers VS industrialists, I'm telling you, you guys wouldnt even know the difference if in the next OW game the designs all came from here.

the game basically changes genere as you evolve your creature, each time it lays an egg you redesign it to become more powerful, once you reach sentience you start a rts/civilization sim game, and once you learn to go into space you start a intergalactic conquest game, with terraforming and deathstar rays n all that.

I just thought any OW fan should know about this.

EDIT: yay, thanks whoever (SEAREX?) for moving my topic =)

It won Best of Show in several E3 awards, so Mr. Wright better release it.

And yeah, I moved this topic.

I doubt it will live upto the hype. A game of this predicted magnitude hardly ever does.

Hardly being the key word. There's a possibility it could live up to it's hype, albeit small.

It does sound good but I hope its not another "Its an 8, I'd give it a 9 if I didn't expect an 11" like Fable or Halo 2.

I saw the full demonstration of this - very impressive. Things moved quickly so it's hard to see the depth in any one area. However, each part seems pretty shallow. (City stage, design buildings/make tanks).
Still looks great.

I've heard bits and pieces about this game from Time magazine when they interviewed Will Wright. I really hope this game does deliver and not follow the predictable dream game scenario where it ends up disappointing as it definately has my attention and my desire to buy it when it comes out.

well, quite honestly I couldnt care less if it lived up to the hype, hypes arent ever any good anyway, mostly they just misinform and disappoint .

just know what to expect, when I saw the demonstration (2nd link)
I did think it seemed a little bit linear considered the setting, wouldnt it be cool if you had a hive type creature BEFORE sentience....or wouldnt it be cool to program a bunch of special instinct behaviors to make your beast kick ass?

but I KNOW that's expecting way too much, it IS going to be linear and with little real chances of creativity in each stage, but I think in the greater scope it would be pretty cool.

it is such a good idea anyway, I wouldnt care if it sucked. it's somewhat like GTA, I think GTA sucks monkey balls, but I am still glad it existed because it was the first of something great. this is just like that but in a much larger scale because the concept is much grander.

the only thing that would posibly suck if this came out is that it did so ****ing horrible nobody tried this again...like say, the virtualboy did.

Esus: hmm, maybe....it was a little weird in the city part when wright created an unit to fight the invaders off and it just flew away......
