This is to balance out the favorite/least favorite threads. This is for discussing things that while not necessarily bad, are considered to be better than they really are. For instance, Chris Rock. I'm sorry, but this guy ain't funny. Obnoxious, yes. Overexposed? Aw hell yeah. Funny? Nope, not all that funny. And this is a guy who can't go through 3 solid minutes of standup without cursing a blue streak and yet he consistently bags roles in family oriented comedies and cartoons.
Secondly, I'm sick of hearing about "blogs". I'd have to put the odds of someone randomly reading a blog and it being worth their time at about 50/1. And the media, particularily the political parts of it, are vastly overestimating their relevancy and usually have no clue what one is. Finally, these have exsisted for years. What's next, a hard hitting expose about how much EZboard is revolutionizing the information world as we know it? Last but certainly not least is poker. Chrissakes, enough already! Its on the GSN, on local networks, the Travel Channel, and ESPN. Since when has poker had anything remotely related to travelling or sports anyhow? Oh, and the program is almost always Texas Hold 'Em and almost always at least a year old. If it isn't that its a bunch of race car drivers, shitty actors, and all around third tier celebrity ****wits playing like a chimp basehead.

Now, looking beyond the fact the album itself has very little political orientation, it's supposed to be a rock opera. Such a description is laughable. There are two suites, the second of which sucks, surrounded by the same standard pop ditties churned out by many a band these days. Granted, they contain much more musical variation seen by the standard pop album, but are hardly a revitalization of rock music. Furthermore, the lead single sucked at first, and became progressively more annoying. Just... bleh. "American Idiot" is better than the generic pop punk/rock album put out these days, but a far cry from all of the praise people bestow upon it.

Let's just say, it suffers from "Nevermind" disease.

seriously, Green Day's a good band and all... but my sister is in love with them. She's constantly blasting their music, and it's always the exact same damn song. The fact that my grandparents are always on her side doesn't help either....

For me, Halo is definitely one of the most overrated games ever. Yes, I have played it, and I was...vaguely entertained by it, but it's no where near the perfection that everyone seems to describe it with. Sometimes I wish I could contract the Spanish Inquisition to drive out its almost religious following. Bah.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, on the other hand. Now there is a great FPS.

American Idiot was a terrible album. It did, however, have "Jesus of Suburbia," which is a pretty well constructed song, both lyrically and musically... too bad the rest of the album didn't follow suit. I wish that the "Rock n Roll Girlfriend" segment of "Homecoming" was a separate song altogether... as the rest of "Homecoming" is really... bleh.

I completely agree about Napoleon Dynamite, too.

I find that most major games, such as the newer Final Fantasy games, Halo 2's online play, etc, are vastly overrated. Halo 2 online was rarely an enjoyable experience.

I've found the humor in Psychonauts to be a bit overrated. I mean, it has funny moments, but it also has plenty of dud jokes. I don't know. After hearing everyone and their grandmother rant about how funny it was, I just expected more...

Thank you sooooo much for hating on LOTR. Every time I start an argument saying LOTR is the boringest shit nobody backs me up. NOBODY. How did this series win minor Academy Awards and even Oscars? I've tried reading the books too, Hobo but it is so dull.
American Idiot, even with its "political overtones" still seems like a trendy sellout, like the guys are just faking their way through it. There are a dozens of different metal and rap bands that put out anti-war/anti-Bush messages within the past year and are better(Exodus and Dead Prez spring immediately to mind) but don't get any respect.
Napolean Dynomite: A few good quotes but still far overrated. The only problem is nobody can eat tater tots without hearing it over and over again. Napolean Dynomite reminds me of another vapid little flick trend: Austin Powers. Those movies blew yet everybody thought they were the shit if they could do an "impression" of its characters.

I'm not saying that Maddox isn't good - he's funny as hell, but to be honest he's damn overrated. Everyone raves on about him as if there isn't a single other person as original or entertaining as him. He's not the only comedian in the world.

And to be honest, his latest entries have sucked. Have you read his article on "Sideways"? I was expecting a funny bashing of the movie (which was crap) but instead I got a poorly written half baked bitch about how people who have decided to buy Pinot because of the film are lame. Dude.. the FILM was lame. Bitch about that instead. You'll probably do a better job. Plastic surgery isn't overrated. It's the "look" that people wish to achieve through plastic surgery that's overrated. Plastic surgery itself is pretty incredible. There is little doubt in my mind that the only problem with it is the people who get it done.
