I think it's pretty cool. It's also pretty freaky. The flies buzzing is creepy. It reminds me of some movie or something where flies buzz when some killer or something is around.

I just spotted this on GameFAQs and was going to mention it here.

No, Kimon, these are the chants that sound when the camera is flying over the Grubb graveyard just before it reveals the dried-up Mongo River valley highlighted by that beautiful yellow sunrise in the opening sequence. I'm not sure what Stranger says in that part you're refering to.

Very interesting. Quite creepy. But might it be doctored? I can't imagine OWI putting subliminal messages like that into their games.

Maybe I should play the opening movie, record the sound, play it backwards, and see if it really says that.

If you reverse it, it sounds pretty phony... I dunno where to upload the sample, but just use Sound Recorder (If you are running Windows), acessable through the Acessories tab in the Programs menu, in the Start menu. Reverse it once recorded, and it sounds rather, shall I say, stupid and blibbley...

Damn it people, can you not see the fake before you? In the opening movie, the whispering was definatley not as loud. Also, I swear I can hear the origional whispering underneath the (I assume) 'recorded' talking. And the flies sound pretty foward playing to me... Just record it with Sound Recorder, then reverse it, and you'll see what I mean.

Oh my, my, my... Super Munch, my instincts tell me you're absolutly right. Or rather, they did at first. But for sh*ts & giggles I did just what you suggested. Ripped the sound byte from the Stranger's Wrath intro courtesy of Game Trailers, flipped it via Sound Recorder and low and behold, I heard more than just these 2 sentances. What I'm hearing is this:

"Our nation is under seige. Don't trust the corporate media. The religious right is insane." and this is followed by a very distinct shuffling.

The clip provided in the 1st post is impossibly clear, much clearer than my personal rip. However, the actual voicing is identical. That's just creepy, why would OddWorld go and do a thing like that?

Anyone interested in this second hand recording, I'd be happy to email it to you. Just drop you address here.
