It seems as if Outlaw is the name of this species. This disappoints me even more than the name ‘Interns’ does. It's lucky I absolutely love the name Wolvark.

because there are apparently different species in the outlaw class

I doubt that outlaw could be a species because they all look so different. I'm sure it's more of a job-description.

Stranger's species has been listed as 'unknown' before, in the GameSpot feature. My guess is that its because the name Steef refers more to the bestial, four-legged form of Stranger, which he is intentially hiding. Thus the NPCs don't actually know that he is a Steef, just some creepy stranger running about.
