Where's everybody gone?

I returned here about a week ago and I noticed that many old members I knew aren't here any more. I have been reading some threads and it seems that some members were not happy about the rules. Did a riot happen? and who's left for good?

not really a riot,just a bunch of people complaining about the rules and making threads about it and then people starting leaveing and some even got banned for awhile (i.e me)

Codek has gone. Apparently sligslinger has ''committed suicide'' . And I remember in one of CB's last posts she commented ''This place is'nt my cup of tea anymore'' . I'm guessing that's English slang for ''I'm Leaving''

The people who were unhappy with the way our rules didn't suit them made their opinions known. But we did not let in, our rules will only ever change for a very good reason. Some people were dealt accordingly, as in line with the rules, after misbehaving.

Some have left on their own accord, or through force. But, we still continue onwards, and still thrive. Quite contrary to what many said about our downfall occuring at that moment in time. I still chuckle everytime I see someone mention 'downfall' and 'oddworld forums' in the same sentence

I do miss Death and Sligslinger. They were funny and frequent posters. Is it just me or do these forums seem to have purges? I've never seen so many hard core members leave a forum before.

Evedentally, everyone's gone because I ATE THEM.

There, I admit it. I'm a cannabal. I eat all kinds of people. Postal workers, Truency Officers, Taxi Cab Drivers, etc. I've sworn off clowns, though. I ate a clown once, it tasted kind of funny.

Purges? I really only recall three or four people leaving, whether on their own accord or forced. Some threatened to leave, but they returned. I think the only purge we've ever had was the TGA incident.

Mac had to leave owing to the amounts of work he's getting from school and all. That's why his moderatorship was replaced by that of SeaRex's (I think - I don't have much time on the Forums either, so I find it hard to keep up).

I think Havoc was one of those upset with the rules, but I definitely saw a post in Off-Topic about the Community since we came back online. Maybe that was someone else.

As for purges, I would suggest that the Oddworld Forums, by their very nature, attract very dynamic people. That's all I dare say on the matter. Basically, the TGA incident was a load of people who grew out of Oddworld, which is entirely fair enough, and this last round was people who forgot to check the Forum rules when they joined.

Well first a moment of silence for those missing members (even if it was there own fault)..............okay, looking forward how about new members too, some of the new members have really hit it off posting others I haven't even heard from, I know I had a technical error and for some reason never got an e-mail telling me how to activate my account (thanks to Alcar we got that settled out) but is this possibly happening to other members that arn't really involved enough with the forums to relize the "contact us" button at the bottom. I will state this (a joy to some and a crertain doom to others) I will be hanging around, you don't have to worry about me leaving. We got to trust OWF in what there doing, "In Odd We Trust" right.

Right...
TGA stands for The Glass Asylum. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that certain OWF members got upset about something and moved to a new forum...TGA, and called it "the new oddworld forums" or something. It didn't last.

Sort of.

It's not something Abe Babe and I are proud of. But we've moved on, as we hope everyone involved has too. A grudge will only hurt yourself in the end. Basically, a forum wide split occured, where certain members of the forums left to go to TGA (The Glass Asylum). These members were the original originals, and, truthfully, their taste in Oddworld had been lost. So TGA was set up for them, it wasn't the new Oddworld Forums, simply a place for those who departed to continue discussions.

Since then, TGA was shut down. Most moved on to TSR (The Stonage Repository), another community. Unfortunately, I can't find TSR anymore. Another community with the proper address seems to have moved in, or it's the same community, and I just haven't recognised it.

It's not a part of the Oddworld Forums history we would dare to repeat. The effects would be far more drastic, I fear.
