New Ranks

I think the ranks are pretty messed up.I mean one minute youre a glukkon pud and then youre a mud slave?Wouldnt the glukkon be better?And the sligs kinda too.Gluks are owners of industrial and sligs are poor sods who dont even get paid but still love thier job.And should'nt you be able to pick which rank path you want in youre profile?Like industrial or native.Oh well this will probably be a ''NO!''....

Well the ranking system is all explained in the FAQs, and as for custom titles..well I don't think we want to open that can of worms again.

Pretty much they're pre-determined titles and I actually like them..I like watching them change

I like improving it too but I like industrialists so I REALLY dont want a mudokon rank/gabbit rank :S

Once we know more about Stranger, there will be Stranger themed ranks. Alcar already has it planned.

No, as we do not know much about the next game. However, from the sounds of it, a rank-like stucture could present itself in Stranger, through the use of Bosses / Minions.

Personally I like the idea of being able to pick which status route you go down (e.g. Native, Industrial, Stranger); I think that would be a pleasant piece of Oddworld-related customability to the Forums. The trouble is the rank system as it is current incorporates both, so the themed ones would have less ranks to them. Personally, I wouldn't mind helping to work on them.

Different themed ranks could pose a few small issues. For starters, as already pointed out, there might not be that many ranks to actually give people. On the more technical side of things, doing a seperate amount of ranks might require some custom hacking.

But it's do-able. I'll look into it when Stranger is about to be released (or whenever we decide to update the ranks).

well, I think if you really really want to split the ranks...you could make some variations of the ones you have...like for muds you could have all sorts of silly variations...like...shooting mudarcher and aiming mudarcher...or injured mudarcher or whatever =P...or maybe 4-fingers mud...3-fingers mud..there's all kinds of stuff you could do

I've been informed that customly selecting which path of ranks you progress up is not possible after all, and at the very least the hacks and altercations necessary to get something like it would result in, amongst other things, slower download times for Forum pages. Which isn't something I'd like to see risked, frankly.
