I saw that last night, but didn't think it worthy of reporting. That date's been said before by other sites, but seems completely arbitrary to me. What's more, since nothing's been said on Oddworld.com, the chance of it being accurate is the same chance as any other speculated date. Well done for spotting it, though.

Time will tell—and perhaps more time than necessary, in fact, because EA has decided that the game will not hit store shelves until spring 2005. Our hunch is that the game is in reality quite far along, but two factors will prevent it from seeing 2004: 1) EA’s desire to release the game simultaneously on Xbox and PlayStation 2 (the PS2 port is just now beginning) and 2) The all-dancing, all-singing, all-selling, all-shooting, competition-swallowing winter 2004 release of a little dirty called Halo 2. But with the better part of a year now left to polish and refine Stranger, Oddworld may just be the perfect place to “take the edge off” after six straight months spent saving mankind from the Covenant invasion.//

Okay...Halo 2 comes out in november. 6 months after november is may! I don't know how relibale that is...but it's just another source hinting towards a may release.

Why would they schedule Stranger so exactly to Halo? They may not want to release soon after Halo but to wait such a specific - and long - length of time would be illogical.

Well, the Halo2 thing is just one factor. EA also has to get a PS2 port of Stranger done. That adds on more time and pushes the release to Spring 2005...theoretically.

Technically it's XBN or Evan Shamoon that made the connection. And even then it's only said to be a 'hunch'. The term "better part of a year" implies that it's over half a year, which would be six months at the very least. But then I know how journalists like to stretch facts to their elastic limit to get some juicy clichés flowing.

But also take note that both sources that mention the May release date are actually XBN, so that's really only one source.
