Keep at it! Practice on pen and paper a lot, keep the skill going, look at what other artists do. Try and imitate styles and font faces etc...
It's something you pick up after a while. It starts out crap then it gets better. But it's best to start out on paper first, before you move on to bedroom walls, then out on to the street.
But the most important thing, is to look at what the really good guys do. Try and figure out what the best ways to form words are. Take inspiration from the artists you like most. You get the idea.
When I first started, I did it entirely in private. Nobody ever saw my work, because I knew they would just laugh, so I kept it to myself. Gradually, as I got better, I started showing my friends, showing fellow artists, and they gave me tips on how to form words and stuff. Then after a while, I was totally unafraid to show my work publicly.
