Sad Playstation

Im going to buy a new Playstation 1 but im not sure what one to buy as there are all these models and different types I just want a new one for Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus.
So if anyone can help me that would be great.

£50-75 to spend.

And in Abe's Oddysee I am sort of struggling with the keyboard on the PC so is it worth buying a controller for the PC to play it?

If this is a thread about how to get a Playstation, I think it should be in Non-Oddworld Gaming.

Why would you buy a PS just to play AO and AE? If you're struggling with the keyboard, then you can get a controller. I don't think it's worth it though; the different controls may have a learning curve, but they're fine when you get used to it.

I play AO on PS3.

Also, does Xbox 360 controller work on Abe's Exxodus for Steam?

Yes. It's not a very good port, though.

Takeshi if you want to buy an original PS1 to play Abe's Oddysee/Exoddus on, check Amazon.com for the games and any pawn shops or Buy and Sell shops in the area for the PS1 itself. I don't expect you'll have to spend much more than 30£.

Mac is right, you looking to spend about £30 maybe even less depending on where you go. Playstations are very cheap. You can get a good condition original Playstation and a PSone for about £10 on eBay but it depends if it bundled with controllers, memory cards or games
Click me!

You can also find AE and AO for about £6-£10 and the price depends if the game is in it's case or not. I would highly recommend buying one in the case because it protects the disc and also it looks cool

Also if there is a car-boot sale near where you live, maybe look there; People usually sell stuff so cheap. (eg I got a SEGA Mega Drive II with games and 2 controllers for £5 )

I would like to be able to play SW and MO but neither of them our on a PS1 I mean a PS3 just to play OddWorld games is a bit extreme but I suppose in the long run I have a console that can play all the latest games. I do have an Xbox 360 but you can't play AO and AE on it but you can play MO but can you play SW?

Why not consider getting a Steam account and playing all four Oddworld games on the PC?

Not a bad idea but, well when I get my college money I was going to buy an alienware laptop, and can I play all the OddWorld games with a steam account?

Better yet, buy a PS2. Also super cheap, can play all PS1 games and has probably the most diverse, high-quality library of games of any console. That's not even Sony wankery, I have a lot of time on my hands, and think about a lot of dumb shit, and I can safely say that the PS2 is a great purchase. Plus PS2 games are all like 5$ now.

Well I actually just checked Steam and you can play all 4 OddWorld games.
http://store.steampowered.com/search...&term=oddworld
Cost is £12.99 and Im buying an Alienware laptop in a week or two anyway, so it will run amazing.
I think im going to with Steam as it works out cheaper and easier, just a controller to worry about now. Anyone got any suggestions on controllers that work and I dont have to setup controls everytime I start a game up.

I wouldn't buy a PS3 this late in the console cycle if I were you. The PS4 will probably be out in a year and a half.

I still use my PS1 to play AO and AE when I don't feel like fiddling with the keyboard on Steam. I suggest you go ahead and buy a PS1 is you can afford it. You can get everything you need for under £50. Don't just buy one for AO and AE though. There's a wide variety of really great retro games you should look into.

There is alot of PS1 games I like, but there is no point in buying a console when im already buying an Alienware laptop and I can get them all on Steam for £12.99.
If you take the Laptop out of the scenario then I am only spending £12.99 because I was already getting a new Laptop because the one im using at the minute isn't very good.
A console to play all four OW games is a PS3, I would have to buy a PS3 then buy the games on top of that. May aswell just buy them all for £12.99 on a new Laptop that will run them all smoothly.
Alienware is made for gaming so im sure they wont struggle with any of the games.

Which is the best Gamepad for Abe's Exodus Steam? I don't actually have an Xbox controller but I asked the previous question because I forgot Gamepads even existed.

So what controller would everyone suggest for PC, one that will pick up the controls to a game.
