Playstation

Im going to buy a new Playstation 1 but im not sure what one to buy as there are all these models and different types I just want a new one for Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus.
So if anyone can help me that would be great.

£50-75 to spend.

And in Abe's Oddysee I am sort of struggling with the keyboard on the PC so is it worth buying a controller for the PC to play it?

Nate 09-12-2012 06:29 AM

If this is a thread about how to get a Playstation, I think it should be in Non-Oddworld Gaming.

Why would you buy a PS just to play AO and AE? If you're struggling with the keyboard, then you can get a controller. I don't think it's worth it though; the different controls may have a learning curve, but they're fine when you get used to it.

Takeshi 09-12-2012 06:30 AM

Well what does everyone else play AO and AE on?

Nate 09-12-2012 06:31 AM

PC (via Steam or GoG). Or Playstation 3.

Takeshi 09-12-2012 06:33 AM

AE and AO is on PS3? WDF

doomcorner64 09-12-2012 06:37 AM

I play AO on PS3.

Also, does Xbox 360 controller work on Abe's Exxodus for Steam?

Takeshi 09-12-2012 06:39 AM

Is it a wired controller?

Yes. It's not a very good port, though.

You've already asked that.

Takeshi 09-12-2012 06:54 AM

I didn't realise you cant remove a post, and it wasn't quoted, im sure someone can a staff member can remove it if it bothers you.

Varrok 09-12-2012 07:01 AM

It doesn't really, but you can edit older ones :)

Takeshi 09-12-2012 07:04 AM

That's what I tried doing but everytime I edited the post and put the quote in and click post it wouldn't load I tried several times and waited a few minutes on each so that's the only reason why I did it, sorry pal :P

Takeshi if you want to buy an original PS1 to play Abe's Oddysee/Exoddus on, check Amazon.com for the games and any pawn shops or Buy and Sell shops in the area for the PS1 itself. I don't expect you'll have to spend much more than 30£.

Takeshi 09-12-2012 07:18 AM

Thanks, but now that I have heard it's on PS3 I think I may save up, Plus then I can buy AO, AE, MO, SW and have a console to play other games, but I will look at amazon, thanks.

Crashpunk 09-12-2012 07:42 AM

Mac is right, you looking to spend about £30 maybe even less depending on where you go. Playstations are very cheap. You can get a good condition original Playstation and a PSone for about £10 on eBay but it depends if it bundled with controllers, memory cards or games
Click me!

You can also find AE and AO for about £6-£10 and the price depends if the game is in it's case or not. I would highly recommend buying one in the case because it protects the disc and also it looks cool :)

Also if there is a car-boot sale near where you live, maybe look there; People usually sell stuff so cheap. (eg I got a SEGA Mega Drive II with games and 2 controllers for £5 :tard:)

Takeshi 09-12-2012 07:49 AM

I would like to be able to play SW and MO but neither of them our on a PS1 I mean a PS3 just to play OddWorld games is a bit extreme but I suppose in the long run I have a console that can play all the latest games. I do have an Xbox 360 but you can't play AO and AE on it but you can play MO but can you play SW?

Crashpunk 09-12-2012 07:58 AM

Why not consider getting a Steam account and playing all four Oddworld games on the PC?

Not a bad idea but, well when I get my college money I was going to buy an alienware laptop, and can I play all the OddWorld games with a steam account?

Mac Sirloin 09-12-2012 08:13 AM

Better yet, buy a PS2. Also super cheap, can play all PS1 games and has probably the most diverse, high-quality library of games of any console. That's not even Sony wankery, I have a lot of time on my hands, and think about a lot of dumb shit, and I can safely say that the PS2 is a great purchase. Plus PS2 games are all like 5$ now.

Takeshi 09-12-2012 08:34 AM

Are all the OddWorld games on Steam?

Takeshi 09-12-2012 08:42 AM

Well I actually just checked Steam and you can play all 4 OddWorld games.
http://store.steampowered.com/search...&term=oddworld
Cost is £12.99 and Im buying an Alienware laptop in a week or two anyway, so it will run amazing.
I think im going to with Steam as it works out cheaper and easier, just a controller to worry about now. Anyone got any suggestions on controllers that work and I dont have to setup controls everytime I start a game up.

OANST 09-12-2012 08:52 AM

I wouldn't buy a PS3 this late in the console cycle if I were you. The PS4 will probably be out in a year and a half.

STM 09-12-2012 08:53 AM

I still use my PS1 to play AO and AE when I don't feel like fiddling with the keyboard on Steam. I suggest you go ahead and buy a PS1 is you can afford it. You can get everything you need for under £50. Don't just buy one for AO and AE though. There's a wide variety of really great retro games you should look into.

Takeshi 09-12-2012 08:59 AM

There is alot of PS1 games I like, but there is no point in buying a console when im already buying an Alienware laptop and I can get them all on Steam for £12.99.
If you take the Laptop out of the scenario then I am only spending £12.99 because I was already getting a new Laptop because the one im using at the minute isn't very good.
A console to play all four OW games is a PS3, I would have to buy a PS3 then buy the games on top of that. May aswell just buy them all for £12.99 on a new Laptop that will run them all smoothly.
Alienware is made for gaming so im sure they wont struggle with any of the games.

Yes. It's not a very good port, though.

How so?

doomcorner64 09-12-2012 10:41 AM

Which is the best Gamepad for Abe's Exodus Steam? I don't actually have an Xbox controller but I asked the previous question because I forgot Gamepads even existed.

How so?

I can't say one way or the other. I bought it, escaped from Rupture Farms, and then lost interest.

Takeshi 09-12-2012 11:02 AM

So what controller would everyone suggest for PC, one that will pick up the controls to a game.
