I suppose, I always find mobs to be really glitchy in SMP. All you can really do is bring the Cow into the pen with wheat then quicky get back outside.
I don't think you understand. I can get the cow into the pen. I can shut him in the pen. If I log off for a while, whenever I come back he's always out again.
Won't necessarily work. Mobs, fences and pens are pretty glitchy at the moment. Chickens push each other into the sides of blocks and suffocate. Mobs can jump over two-block-high-fences. I think mobs' interactions with blocks were never great, and now they're persistent and getting locked together all the time, the extent of the glitches is becoming evident.
I used your method, Edd, of cheating and using creative mode; sorry boys and girls, but I didn't fancy collecting about 20 stacks of wool and dying it suitably to make something that'll be gone in three weeks. After Christmas I'll strip off the sleeves (to keep the house safe), take out his ice eyes (to stop them running) and golden buttons and then set fire to the boots; I'll let people know when so they can come and watch.
I started off planning to do a hat, then decided to do a beard too, and then the rest. The only other step would have been to replace the house with a present but that'd take too much effort to put back.
The spider crawling on its beard is part of the decoration. As were the three creepers that spawned inside its hat.
@Havoc - Nope, someone's been building snow golems. They've left little trails of snow everywhere across the pathways.
However it seems biomes have changed since yesterday and I don't think they're the original biomes. Ma 'Spa entrance is now in a swamp, and it's raining in the desert. Did you change something?
The server has been really empty and boring lately, so I'm going to spice things up a bit. Skyblock has made it's way onto our server and it's up to all of you to complete the challenges and objectives that come with it.
As you can see in the video, Skyblock is a lone patch of dirt with a tree and a chest on it. In the chest you will find a bucket of lava and a block of ice. With just those materials we need to expand the island and complete the objectives.
First of all some groundrules:
1. Do NOT take anything to or from Skyblock. The challenge is to survive with the materials you have. You will ruin the experience by bringing anything there. When you go to Skyblock you can leave all your things in the chests. When leaving Skyblock please leave any materials you have on you in a chest as well.
2. Certain blocks are only available in a limited quantity (like grass). Think before you act because once you lose them you can not get them back.
3. Work together to complete the objectives below.
4. When you complete an objective take a picture of it so we can mark it completed. Pics or it didn't happen!
Skyblock Objectives:
1) Build a Cobble Stone generator.
2) Build a house.
3) Expand the island.

I'll keep this post updated with progress as we go .
You can get to the Skyblock by right clicking the Warp sign next to the Ma'spa Stargate.
If you fuck up something so we have to restart, please post your stupidity here so we can all mock you and laugh at you.
Without having gone and actually had a look at the island, I'm dubious that all of those things are possible. Mostly cactus, pumpkins, melons and reed. Unless they're provided, how can they possibly be obtained?
Some things are possible, but some things aren't, depending on what is in the starting chest.
I watched Paulsoaresjr's attempt at SkyBlock. He made a gigantic water tunnel which brought lots of mobs together and then he killed them all and harvested tons of items. Good luck to anyone brave to attempt this challenge.

Those things are provided. But you really need to be careful with your blocks - they easily fall into a great blue void beneath the island.
One tricky bit was starting a portal without the use of flint and steel. Or at least, the solution was a bit more finicky.
I think there may be a way to get the gold ingots (build a platform in the nether, move away from it, wait for pigmen to spawn - Have fun killing them! ). And the wool dyes (grass and bonemeal are the requirements - And lots of water for squid spawning).
The dyes are easy - red and yellow from flowers, black from squid, white from skeletons, green from cactus. Everything else is just a combination thereof. The hard part is killing enough spiders for the wool.
After rescuing all the dirt from the original block, we now have 47 dirt in reserve. I was going to suggest using it for a small field but animals don't spawn anymore .

Paulsoaresjr didn't have any problems getting enough spiders. He had at least 50-150 mobs at once in his tunnel of watery death. I'd be more worried about all the endermen.
I did not say that I consider the fish bit dealt with. But yeah, they are in the chest, ready for being cooked. The fishing rod is on me, I'll try to catch some more later on so that we no longer starve to death - melon and zombie flesh is a weak diet.
Forgive me for double-posting, but this thread went terribly quiet recently, and I now aim to fix that somewhat.
I present to you: the story of Exodus.
With the exception of frame 2, the narration is the work of Splat (it is the story found in the Church of the Golden Apple). I also rectified my mistake in the last comic: DH is using Subject Delta from Bioshock 2 as his skin, not Isaac Clarke from Dead Space.
