Personally I would be perfectly happy to start over entirely in a completely fresh world, but I haven't put in nearly as much time as others (especially DarkHoodness) have. The less that comes with us, IMO, the better; I don't think I would even be stashing any items in RF.

You know, I was thinking of simply continuing to build RF using Creative and MC Edit while keeping people updated on my progress via screenshots in the topic I made for the project, where people can leave feedback and share ideas. Then when I'm finished I can both release it as a separate download in its own map, and patch it into our multiplayer server using MC edit with Havoc's permission.

It is such a huge project that I have big plans for, but the only thing stopping me is the tedium of spending ages and ages gathering the needed resources and not being able to fly. It was challenging at first, and getting the outer shell done without cheating was an achievement, but to be honest, the limitations of survival mode are a bit of nuisance and are now hindering my motivation.

Sure, I could have people helping me, and some were eager to do so and have done so far, (especially Dripik) but the trouble with that is I have difficulty putting my ideas and plans across in a way that people will be able to understand them. People who have helped me so far will still be credited though.

If we do start again, people should at least be given a chance to download the existing multiplayer map and have a copy for themselves, so they can look back on the "Good old days". Maybe if Havoc sent it to me I could trim away all the excess wildernes where nobody has built in order to reduce the file size using MC edit, then find somebody to host it somewhere permanently.

Hmm, well there's the possibility to entering creative mode in SMP, which is very easy (I had a fly over Exoddus once, but couldn't get in enough for a decent screenshot. I didn't add any blocks). While I think we shouldn't normally use it, I wouldn't mind making Rupture Farms an exception, if it's the difference between seeing it finished and not. It'd let us see your progress, and help, and leave it in the OWF server which I feel is where it belongs. Seeing it grow is great.

Well okay now that I know using creative mode individually in SMP is a possibility, maybe I can do it your way instead - Would make it more interactive, yes. Although I wanted to be able to load up RF in MC edit in order to duplicate items/props to save having to build them multiple times. But I suppose that's a bit cheating.

Even if I vow not to use it except on RF, wouldn't that give me an unfair advantage over other players?

Nah not really... Considering it's just one building, and we all want to see it finished. I mean, as long as none of the material is used anywhere else, or no one uses creative mode for other things it's fine. I don't see it as cheating if everyone agrees. Besides... I feel RF is a bit of a special case considering it's actually oddworld themed.

Anyway I don't mind starting over completely... I just want to be able to take my materials with me. I spent fuckin ages collecting them x_x... But I dont mind my buildings so much. I never built much, and I can just make another Melon Slice House

I wanna make a pumpkin house as well. But damn, I think I still have 12 diamond blocks left and two stacks of iron blocks... Im not giving those up. I have plans! >: (

If you don't get on and build that pumpkin house, I'll beat you to it.

Things like pumpkin and melon seeds will come with me, as will all my rare valuables. I haven't worked as hard as Nexy, but I've worked quite hard enough thank you (I found a ton of lapis the other day).

I just want to be able to take my valuables and some materials with me if we do restart. I'll miss Mole's Burrow and all, but I have plans to make its sister city anyway.

EDIT: Okay - I've built some chests beyond the pipes in RF. Since it'll be transferred across to the new server, everything in them will be transferred as well. They're signposted - Make sure you mark your chests.

Still, that also depends if we do this idea or not.

You could still do it in Creative SSP. I've been toying with the idea myself, trying out certain designs for a pumpkin house. It would take a bit of extra effort to make the pumpkin blocks to face the right direction - that is, if you aim for outer walls not having the faces on them.

I don't really mind if I don't have my resources on a possible new start. The part I enjoy the most in any game is when you start out with nothing and get yourself kitted out.

I agree with this. If we keep stuff there's no point in starting from scratch.

Two contestants at a vicious game of Spleef.

Also, would there be interest in a Spleef Tournament? We could even make it into a video with commentary, just for fun.

As for the new server, starting over idea, I might have a solution that works for everyone.

There are several multi-world plugins for Bukkit and the Stargate plugin (which we currently use for travel between Genesis and Exoddus) supports that. What this would mean in a nutshell is that we could generate a completely new world and use the gates to link them together. You'd be able to travel between them.

I haven't done much research into this though, so I'll check on the exact do's and don't in this system.

I haven’t really built anything meaningful in Exoddus, so I’m not too worried about starting over.

I’d like to be able to access Genesis in future though, as I fucking love that mountain lair.

Hmm, in retrospect I would quite like to save the spleef arena if we do take any other stuff. If it's just a case of Rupture Farms and 2Fort then ok, but if we take other stuff, I'd like the arena...

This is going to cast much suspicion on me but...

I found this when I was going to go mining in the public mine. I didn't want to go exploring without anyone else on, and it even asks for a group to go on this quest... Now what?

Is that BST being British Summer Time? 'Cus we're not in that any more. I might be working then.

Also, is this north as in Sun-moving-east-to-west north (generally accepted north) or north as in map-aligning-north north (gravel-cave north)?

EDIT: Me and Hula just went for an explore to find the place; we found it with some difficulty 'cus it's actually quite far from the river, but I put a pillar of cobble with dirt at the top on the edge of the river: when you're following the river and see the pillar, head north to find the small, cobble ruin.
I had a look just inside, and the first challenge was a basic dispenser-and-pressure-pad jumping puzzle. I didn't try it or anything; leave that to when we do it as a gang. Dunno if the rest will continue in that vein or not; we'll have to wait and see.

Well, it says a swamp in the north, and down river to the "Sun-moving-east-to-west" north is a moderately sized swamp. It is veering off to the north-east... perhaps someone should check?

Signs been updated to 8:00pm GMT on Saturday 19th (no it's not me doing it, the sign's been changed when I checked it just now)

The map is blank for me so I guess people will have to guide me. I'm glad whoever is doing this finally picked up where they left off.
