I agree with you. The way Microsoft didn't want a PC version of MO is just stupid. Microsoft are the ones that made the Windows operating system, so they could have made MO for Windows. Maybe (if the game is for 360) Microsoft will realize they should make a Windows version -- there's about as much PC gamers as console gamers, so they will probably make twice as much money as they would by just making it a 360 exclusive.
It still costs a significant amount of money to port the game to the PC. Seeing as the game didn't sell amazingly well, they won't see it as worthwhile. In any case, I believe the rights of the games have reverted to OWI; it would be in their hands to make the port.
(Wait for my interview with Lorne for more information)

:
And I don't think native Mudokons would have eaten food made using the bodies of the creatures they defended!!!

I quite like that idea. One thing. How would Abe fart? Would the player have to literally fart into the microphone?
Multiple solutions:

1. Blow irritating raspberries into the mic

2. An option on the touch screen

Now that would be an interesting icon.

I was going to provide an example here. All I can say is that you should not googleimage the word 'arse'.

There was such an icon to fart in Fable. Nothing too untasteful.

But I'm not sure I'd like to actually speak my commands in, that wouldn't allow me to play anywhere except locked in my room.

Well, but it's kinda boring always stealth or avoid enemies. For me weapon would be a good add, but you still need the help of your friends for many levels, alone you can't do nothing! If you don't like weapons: DON'T USE IT you're not obbligated. I want that you can complete levels in many ways you want: stealth, killing, possessing or more!
I hate this insitance on weaponry. You can possess Sligs, Interns and Vykkers who have guns, isn't that enough? Stranger's Wrath had more than enough guns, and I for oen don't want a repeat of that.

Also, stealth and using your brain only gets boring for people who have narrow gamnig interests. Tons of games use guns, killing and fighting, but very few force you to think and be cautious and secretive, hence why I like Oddworld (and Splinter Cell, even if the original is fiendishly difficult). Being creative, you can play the game in tons of ways if you play using your head, and a stealth/puzzler type game would get you to do that.

I might also like a limit on the spooce issue, again so that you're forced to be mroe careful with who you possess. you can't just possess-kill every grunt you come across, you need to use your brains. Yes, it'd be harder, but again, offer more variety- do you possess the first Slig you see and barge in, gunning down a ton of Industrials? Do you creep along, possess-killing any problematic Industrials, or do you use the possession to manipulate a select few Industrials to do what you want.

I'd like to see oddworld on the DS, go back to basics, and maybe drag the Possessing thing to the sligs/slogs/vykkers etc have a complete touch screen option or use the D-pad. And the Mic would be great, but the use of just using the buttons would be nice to as the mic can be annoying.
When using Shrykull, tap the things you won't to explode.
I think oddworld would be perfect for the DS, as long as it's 2D.

I like Munch's Master's idea. Limit spooce so that if you use it too much early on then for the next few levels when you cant find any and have to sneak around and use your stealth.

I would also like to see alot more options for a certain scenario, each one haveing a different outcome/consequence. Pretty much what was promised in the early PS2 MO just alot more in depth now.

The impression I got was that it wandered into their village, and they’re just restraining it so it doesn’t kill them all. Not many people like their entire village to be wiped out. I’m certainly dead against it.

I challenge you to find one tribal society that is vegetarian. On the other hand, many tribes hold the animals they hunt sacred. After all, they provide sustenance, clothing and many other resources. Seems like worthy of worship to me.

While its not impossible, I think the thought of Mudokons eating meat seems odd, with their far more vegetarian dental structure etc. Also, it would seem a bit of trouble to restrain a Scrab rather than something a bit easier to deal with like farmed Meeps or Elum more likely (Meeps suck...).

They may have spears, but that Scrab isn't gonna be easy. Why the hell is it tied up, how they manage that without having to kill the damn thing first? And that's a helluva Scrab, it's at least twice as tall as that Mudokon back there next to it.

In AO, in the opening FMV, Abe wanted to eat Paramite Pies and Scrab Cakes. Why would he want to eat them, if he doesn't know what they taste like? Since AO came out in 1997, I don't think Mudokons eating meat would be that odd.

Remember back to Monsiac Lines, the Scrab and Paraminte there looked pretty happy being worshiped without eating anyone and also think, surely it would be more morally corrupt to restrain an animal for the express reason of worshipping it, than it would to eat it?

Also I think you have your wording mixed up, Mudokons worship Shrykull as far as I can tell, they revere nature and worldly avatars of their God AKA Paramites and Scrabs.

You say that they don't worship Scrabs and Paramites. In the Abe's Moon FMV, Abe says: "Paramites and Scrabs have been sacred once." This proves they're sacred. They even have their own temples. All this means Mudokons worship Scrabs and Paramites.

I never said that they wouldn't want a PC version. Just that that would cost money and no-one is going to spend that money unless they see that it's likely they'll make a profit on it.

Abe was born in to captivity so he would never have hunted a wild scrab or paramite. As an industrialised slave, he would have had access to RuptureFarm's products and probably would have tasted them.

No, for me it isn't enough! And that doesn't mean to have narrow gaming interests... and I'm more creative than you can expect!!! Just I don't like to be the only FOOL that can't use weapons. Make me nervous to see ton of Mudokons with weapon, and Abe can attack only slapping Sligs, and you can't use the possess them because sometimes there are chant orb, and you'll keep run away like a coward for avoid to be hit, waiting for you buddy to do their job! I REALLY LIKE IT!
And if you hate this "insitance" as you say... well... I don't care. It's a my opinion and will keep to think about that. Its Lorne's decision to add it or no... I think it won't add it... but hey, everybody want something different about the one's favourite series!
Remember: in Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus there are grenades, aren't they a weapon??? Hmmmm?

Yes, grenades. 1 weapon, that appears sparsely. Not exactly a constant weapon as such. That's fine for me. And way to go picking up on typos with "insitance".

I say that being able to posses gung-ho characters is enough. Turning Abe into a militant is not the way to go IMO- he's the leader, the rallying force, the preacher. Preachers lead from the rear, not the front. They are the motivator and the inspirers, not the warriors. And Abe sure as heck isn't a warrior.

Listen, I don't wanna to run againts your own opinion, they're good... and they are YOUR ideas. But I'am afraid of something: that the next Oddworld will be a flop.
I don't really wanna that this happens, I want a MARVELOUS Oddworld, not like Munch's Oddysee. I hope their find out good ideas and stuff, with a good gameplay and grapichs. Because the last Oddworld didn't sell much... I hope the next won't be like those. MOST of the ideas I read there are very good, but I'am afraid that NOBODY (and you know who) wouldn't have a look there... because I think: IT'S A FAN OF A VIDEOGAME SERIES THAT MAKE A GOOD GAME!

About grenades, is it not true (I honestly cannot remember, it's been years since I played the final few levels) that the number of times you actually kill enemies with them, and not just solve puzzles, can be counted on one hand?

That being said I would like a rampage level towards the end of the game where you have unlimited access to the Shrykull, a good way of showing what I mean by 'Rampage level' would be by comparing it to the climb of the Tower of Dawn and the Sword of Time on Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, which remains one of my favourite gaming bits ever.

OK then, but my point still stands that he's not a warrior. Your description is more accurate as Abe does do all the freeing first-hand, but he still isn't a warrior (as you also said with 'meat-shield')

And Stranger90, not to sound funny or anything but, could you explain your last post a little clearer? I don't really understand what you're saying. Good ideas, good game, good graphics, sells better yes I understand that. It's just this:
:
Because the last Oddworld didn't sell much... I hope the next won't be like those. MOST of the ideas I read there are very good, but I'am afraid that NOBODY (and you know who) wouldn't have a look there... because I think: IT'S A FAN OF A VIDEOGAME SERIES THAT MAKE A GOOD GAME!
You don't want the new games at all like the old ones due to sales? And for the last sentence, do you mean: even if the ideas are any good, nobody in charge will have a look because it's not the fans that make the game? Or are you saying: Most ideas said on here are good, but nobody wouldn't consider adding violence because what the fans want is what makes the game good (which doesn't even make grammatical sense anyway)? I'm totally at a loss as to what you're saying, sorry .

Sorry man, if I where english I could explain a lot better this, but for now that's what you get from my language knowledge. And yes, I don't wanna see that horrible gameplay you see in Munch's Oddysee (Stranger's Wrath its great), and yes: nobody in charge will look at our ideas. And refering to my last sentence, the meaning is: The fans MAKE good games because they got a lot of wonderful ideas, not who REALLY make the game. Who make the game usually doesn't care about fan ideas! Now you understand???

Stranger90, I think you need to put a bit more faith in the people behind the Oddworld games. They're not perfect; no one is. There are some examples of severe fan abuse in other franchises which we thankfully haven't been subjected to at all. I think you're being overly cautious about the wrong people.

Getting back on topic, the stuff I'd like to see in the next Oddworld game:

- Abe returns, hopefully with a voice closer still to his AO one... I'm so picky... =(
- Sligs! And maybe even a prominent Slig character!
- I disagree with the bit about needing weapons; the ability to possess is in itself an awesome weapon. An ability like that will turn any gamer's eye because it' s just plain cool. Furthermore, (I haven't played MO so I can't speak for it) what made Oddysee and Exoddus great was that you were going in there as this helpless, pathetic guy who had only one defense: the ability to take control of others.
- I love the thrill/frustration of having to sneak at some points and run at others.
- That they somehow heed a warning not to try to fix what isn't broken... Not that they have or I think they will, but I've seen too many games go wrong like that. *cough* Silent Hill 4's inventory system *cough*
- By the way, I think a DS game in the old Oddworld 2D style would be a complete hit.
- Keep the ever-changing style of the music. I am extremely appreciative of the soundwork we've gotten so far and I'm always attentive to when the music changes for whatever reason (when something is nearby vs. when it's chasing you, etc.)
- Most of all, I want to see things which were promised for Munch's Oddysee but didn't make it into the game- the race queens, Name That Trauma, etc.

That's all I can think of for now, I guess I'll edit if I think of anything later.

Well! I have a little of faith... I really want to see how the next Oddworld is.

BTW, your ideas seem good for me!

Okay, more ideas: If this game is ME, it should be 3 or 4 times larger than MO, and have an underwater section (like Splinterz in MO) which should include: Scoots (just for the background), Stangs (much more important) and the most important... SEA REXES!
It should also have everything listed here, except rescuing Sam.
It should also have Flying/Crawling Sligs, Slurgs, Greeters, and most importantly... FLEECHES! It should also have a return to Rupture Farms, and Molluck's trial with Chroniclers.
