Well, one can assume your emotions towards a child would possibly change as you age. I reckon you might like children enough by the time your thirty to consider raising a family, Used.

I like children enough plenty now. Well, my own that is. But I'll have too much crap to do for the next ten years and probably beyond to be focusing on a family.

Uhh, what's that suppose to mean.

Because for most people who have relationships with someone
else when they're twenty, they have all ten years to get married and
to figure out life-to have disagreements, fun moment and such- before they have children versus having children when your in your mid-twenties and missing out on a big piece of your life because you thought you were ready or because you didn't use protection for some careless reason at that time.

Might OANST be possible living proof?

I really want kids, it's silly but one of my biggest fears is to be infertile. However, I would't even seriously think about starting a family until I'm in a stable relationship and hopefully married.

You don't want them when your old because you'll get tired, and you don't want them when your young because you'll feel like your ruined 18 years of your life.

Well, it doesn't really matter how you feel if you have children. It's about the child from that point on.

I don't care if I have kids in my mid or late twenties. Life is bound to get progressively harder for everyone.

Correction: You don't want them when you're young because you'll ruin their life.

When I try to imagine what it might have been like if my parents were never married, my mom had me when she was 17 and she worked as a waitress, makes me even more determined not to even think of having children until I'm at least 25, I've been married to my current husband for at least five years, and until I have a stable job (with the exception of the case if my husband has over six figures per annum). After I've had my baby, I’m hoping to quit my job and become a homemaker .

But you can't be too old as well. Then you die while your spawn is young. And that's bad. I think late twenties/early thirties is a good age.

Yup, also girls have a biological clock that can go from the age of 35 [apparantly, but that seems far to young to me, I always thought it was about 50ish]. Wooh for menopause [sp].

Weeelll, I don't know if you're a guy or a girl because the gender symbols disappeared (*COUGHVERSIONSIXCOUGH*), but I guess all I really want is have a home life with a loving husband, raising children, you know...

I've always considered that the ideal age, as a matter of fact.

Well menopause generally happens at 50ish but there can be health implications for both the mother and the child if she's older than 40.

I definately want to have kids one day. However, I want to be settled down and married and be done with my schooling perhaps at least my masters degree. So it'll probably be another five-six years at least before that's going to happen, especially, if I want to get my PhD. I guess I'll have to see what happens though.

That's true, but menopause can occur in a woman's mid-forties depending how stessed out she is and her current health issue. Stess is also the reason some women have multipleperiods in one month.

Wow, that was rude.
Ah, gee, sorry, didn't know that was bad when it came down to OANST.

Health implications? My mother was over 40 when I was born and I'm 100% fine, if not better than fine in terms of mental health- I'm one of the most intelligent in my year/school. Not being big-headed there, it's the truth.
I can understand there's a possiblity of health problems, but there weren't with me.

Well, not as much rude as wrong per se. Sure he may have had children at an age most of us would consider "wrong," but he took care of business and made a decent lifestyle for his family, but I'm fighting other peoples' battles. The point is is that you're an ignorant jack ass.

Thanks, Used. I'll take it from here. The only thing that I'm living proof of is that having a child can create direction and purpose for your life. Without having had kids I would still be a feckless, worthless person and a drain on the people around me. Having children changed my life in a profound way. I'm a better person for it.

Oh, yeah. Just to keep this in the vein of my normal conversations with you..... Eat shit and die.

I don't care. Probably why I get bullied. Which means I force myself to care, so I don't get bullied.
I don't really get bullied, except by a couple of shitbags at my school. I'm certainly not a popular person though. I used to want to fit in and be one of the 'cool' people but I gave that up a couple of months ago. I don't care now because I know it probably won't work so I don't bother. Doesn't work any better really, though.
And yeah, the big trouble with kids is that 90% of the time, if they're anything like you were/are like as a kid/teenager, they're going to be trouble. But that's the case with every generation, and most people grow out of the immature/prick age, some early, others late on.

And I totally understand what OANST says about kids giving your life direction. And Spirrow, don't want to sound like I'm pissed at you but maybe some people want children at an early age anyway, so forget that whole 'missing part of your life' stuff. You aren't missing a part of your life, what you're doing is experiencing a part of life (parenthood) earlier, which means you could have new/other experiences later in life. But I'm not a parent so I can't really speak on behalf of OANST.
