Aww, I missed it.

:
Why isn't STM allowed on the server? It seems a bit unfair.
EDIT: Oh okay, to protect his dignity I won't give as much detail as I just put here. But I will say that it involved some personality clashes. It's not necessarily his fault. Bit of a shame, though.

If anyone has any obsidian, I would really appreciate it if you let me know. I'll even go mine it for myself!

The bottom of my base (The shack in the middle of the frozen sea) is teeming with lava. Take a bucket of water down there and help yourself. I'd appreciate it if you leave any diamonds and gold alone though ^^.

Now I can't, I lost all of my fucking obsidian (26) and my diamond pick to a fucking lava pool. I'm too disheartened to continue my fort for awhile.

I'd actually publicly like to know what I did...I'm not even quite certain what I did. So whoever it is that decided to ban me...or one of the people in that 'unanimous vote' could tell me what it was...I'm guessing it was that beach fiasco but I'm not sure if that's ban worthy.

Hmm, if Havoc did tape banning me, yeh post that to, I'd like to see what it looks like being stabbed in the back.

That, and your general attitude. From early on, we saw that you're kinda trying to tag along while everyone was busy with something. Then you got a bit demanding, saying that you need this and need that. Then took regular strolls around our buildings at night, resulting in explosions. Then - allegedly - you attacked the pigmen around our first portal, resulting in everyone getting killed by them. You also messed up DH's cactus trap (claiming that "he can just replace them, it's OK") and the beach in general with aforementioned explosions. So after asking the opinion of all the others, who all claimed that you annoyed them a lot, I decided to ban you for the sake of our gameplay experience.

I don't think anyone taped the banning (what is there to film on that anyway?), but still, let's leave the topic at that and move on.

EDIT: Unofficial guidelines that people seem to agree with - They aren't entirely set in stone but please bear them in mind. Happy Minecrafting!
  • Don't steal things from other people's chests
  • Fill in your creeper holes near inhabited areas (if you're far away and not near other people's creations it's not important)
  • Don't leave floating trees/remove big trees entirely
  • Respect other people's creations
  • If you have to go AFK for a while, please log off the server so that the rest of us can sleep when it gets to night.
  • Before you build, take a good look around and notice where the location of other people's houses and creations are, especially if you plan to build something insanely large or obstructing (for example don't block the line-of-sight between the OWI logo and the main base). Check with your neighbours first. A good place to build your own house/base is on the outskirts of the inhabited area, not too close to people's creations, where it doesn't look like anyone has built yet.

Notes:
  • Everyone normally carries a bed with them (or at least I do). If everyone says they're in a bed at night, and you can't get to a bed, log out for a few seconds, then rejoin.
  • Some of the main areas are connected by mine cart (map here I wasn't being serious when I made this, I'm not THAT nerdy :P) as a safe(ish), fast way of getting around. To use, place a mine cart on a slope facing the direction of travel, ride in a cart, then press the button next to the slope to launch. You can hit the mine cart with a tool while sitting in it to pick it up quickly, or stop between stations.
  • Stuff in the community chests in the base is for everyone - Just don't take everything, rely on using your own stuff when you can, and be sure to make your own contributions from time to time.
  • Same applies to the food in the Old Mill.
  • The apartments were built by Oldnile (Dripik) to house newcomers. When you first join, feel free to pick an un-inhabited room to use until you build your own base.
  • It's best to not wander around inhabited areas at night unless you really have to, then you won't be ambushed by creepers and leave holes everywhere.
  • If you do remove trees near inhabited areas for wood, replant saplings.

Rules look pretty good to me and cover most of the basics. As for TNT, I'd restrict it's use to mines only, as I don't really see a use for it outside of that.

And yeah, take into account the location of other people's houses and creations before you build something. Especially when building something insanely large or obstructing. Check with your neighbors first.

6) Don't leave pillars of sand and dirt everywhere
Does this apply out in the wild, or just near civilisation? I use dirt columns to mark points of interest (mines, lava pools etc.), and I'd like to keep doing this.

I only suggested that rule 'cause STM kept leaving them against the side of my railway track. Kinda annoying.

:
6) Don't leave many random pillars of sand and dirt everywhere (especially not next to other people's structures) unless they serve a purpose (like marking areas of interest)
This a bit more agreeable?

EDIT: I modified guideline 6 as well to reflect what Havoc said, he worded it better.

:
As for TNT, I'd restrict it's use to mines only, as I don't really see a use for it outside of that.
TNT can also be used in creations (Scraby says he intends to build a TNT cannon in the wilderness somewhere) and for blasting away mountains (though mountains are much easier to dig away with tools IMO rather than collect gunpowder).

I love that tube map, DH; it's funny and useful!
We should totally design some sort of tourist board for the server

I dunno, a bunch of nice guys on a quest to make a nice server is different to the typical, "Get a build permit, buy every single feature etc" type gaming I encountered.

Insomnia sucks, I hate it so much.

The OWI logo really is something. This is one of the reasons I asked Dynamithix to move his pyramid when he built it in the line of sight between the base and it.

And speaking of the base, here's a tour, though this isn't all of it and I may have pulled some of the names for the rooms out of my arse:

Tour of the the transit system (and in a way, some of the main parts of the server itself).

EASTER EGG: See if you can spot the creeper! (And I mean an actual mob, not Splat's awesome wool creeper face)

:
Track I made on the Oddworld Forums multiplayer server - Featuring sections suspended in the air, sections that go underground and even an underwater glass tunnel.

Tutorial here (though you don't need to use as many powered rails as this since 1.6): http://youtu.be/VIjrTt08wlE

Also features creations by Oldnile, Havoc, Buncible, Talpstar, Dynamithix and Wariopunk (All I'm responsible for is the railway itself, the stations, and the castle seen at 3:10 ).

Music from Orbital: In Sides
Filming and editing this damned thing was perhaps more trouble than it was worth. Here's a head's up: Windows 7 version of Movie Maker sucks as much as the XP version. Typical bloody Microsoft.

You think so? I found the Windows Seven Movie Maker so much worse that I downloaded the Windows XP version to use instead.

Video is good; what happened with that abandoned tunnel?
