Haha, I still can't believe you don't know what negligence means. It obviously meansfailure to exercise the care that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in like circumstances. The area of tort law known as negligence involves harm caused by carelessness, not intentional harm. Failing to take proper care in doing something: "directors have been negligent in the performance of their duties". God, Varrok.

I really have to wonder what comes after the touchscreen. I kinda want displays that can simulate textured surfaces, but that will be decades at least.

And I’m not convinced motion sensing is the way – the Wii and the Kinect have both shown that type of input lacks the finesse for day-to-day tasks. Although, Leap looks nice.

I don't think it will take that long. There are already touchscreens that can pop up bubbles in pre-defined locations. They just need to decrease the size of the bubbles and thus increase the 'resolution'. There are also screens that use electrical charge to give the sensation of texture as you brush across the screen.

I give it a decade, at most.

For a touchscreen to simulate the sensation of a key-push instead of just using keys?
Yes, it epitomizes pointlessness, but it's all part of the ergonomic wankfest.

It has practical applications, like helping people make the transition from keyboard to touchscreen, or for people like me who can't stand the unsatisfying touch response of a flat screen versus the crisp, irrefragable sensation of pushing an actual key. I'm pretty sure the auto-embossing flatscreens are more money than the standard ones though, and that's where the bullshit becomes cyclical for me.

I'd rather pay less money to keep using a keyboard than pay more money to use a touchscreen that imitates one. Of course, given how quickly keyboards on phones/pads are being phased out, I may not have a fucking choice.

Okay, can you touch-type on a tablet?

Also, if they could reach the precision required for Braille, it would be about a billion times easier for blind people to use computers.

I know voice-recognition isn't perfect these days but...

Hang on, why does a blind person have a touch device?

In all probability, they don't. But with the technology hypothesised above, they could. Technology should be accessible. Can you say that a blind person would need a tablet PC/smartphone/etc. any less than a sighted person?

I'll ignore the first half of your post. There are plenty of reasons why you don't use voice-reg on your chosen devices, especially when you use them in public. These reservations are held just as strongly, if not more, by people who have no alternative.
