London is excellent. I went a couple of months ago for a Sony Vita thing I loved it. It's a very vibrant city, and riding the tube felt weirdly awesome.

Ok. You're weird.

Nice build, Edd. I think it would be good to have a rail system round Ma'Spa but I think it's probably someone else's turn to do the hard work of building it; Edd does enough for us lazy slobs.

I might start a donations chest for gold and iron for a railway in Ma'Spa when the server updates and I can get back on.
I like the idea of having a Testificate locked in the ticket booth But don't you know all stations have those automatic ticket machines now?

I'm gonna be in London in a couple of weeks. Going to the Doctor Who exhibition with my nephew.

Anyway, back to Minecraft.

A new 1.2 Snapshot has just been released
:
Ladders regained their collision box, and vines are climbable when they have a solid block behind them
Added jungle biome (requires a new world) with new tree and leaf types
Updated language files
Dispensers will place mobs instead of releasing the spawner egg
Zombies have new path-finding AI
Wolves have new AI and can be bred (when tame)
Download it here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Ve...ns#cite_note-1

Ohh, those trees are gonna cast dark shadows...
The biome does look amazing, though it'd be nice to have some non-forested biomes. Maybe semi-forested.

I'm planning a mod that I'll make if I ever learn Java that would, if possible, include dynamic biomes, automatically adjusting tree type and size, ground block type, grass and leaf colour, height and ruggedness of terrain, and similar. There would be more gradual transitions, too.

To be breif, a CTF based thing. But it would involve a lot of work. I'll see if it's possible when the API is released. I don't want to have to rewrite most of the game, especially now that Ace of Spades is getting more popular.

I started a new world on my Win7 computer today. I did it just to see how far I could push my graphics card-less rig. I wasn't particularly worried if it was going to be a good world. It turned out to be the best world I've ever spawned.

The mountains are just amazing. I love the 1.8+ world generation.

Oh, and I average 11fps looking out over that in far render distance, with Optifine installed. I'm fairly pleased with that.

That's beautiful. To be honest, I wouldn't generalize the modern generation system to that.
It seems you got lucky with that map. Mind sharing the seed? I've never seen one quite like it.

Every map with the new terrain generator has those. They're called mountain biomes. Usually, they're much larger.

I'm glad Mojang is re-implementing the stuff that they got rid of, such as snow biomes, ferns, rain forest biomes, etc.

I know they're mountain biomes. what's why I was crediting the post-1.8 terrain generator. Snow wasn't gone for very long, rain forests were never removed and what the hell do you mean by ferns?

It's a type of tall grass that appeared in forest biomes. There's a bunch not a huge walk from Genesis.

1. In 1.8 and future versions of Minecraft, terrain features like the one you just posted aren't special anymore. You can find stuff like that in most maps now.

2. They've been missing in beta 1.8 and have been re-added partially in 1.0. In 1.1, they completely re-added them. I guess it wasn't very long.

3. Do you see rain forests here? http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Biomes

4. There's three kinds of tall grass. The triangular one is called a Fern or Living Shrub. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tall_grass

That's exactly what I've been saying. It's not overly special.

That doesn't stop it being the best mountain biome I've seen.

Jeb has made a little teaser picture of a New Mob. (Look to the right)

Also apparently a new snapshot might be released today. changing the AI in some mobs such as Skeletons now apparently try to avoid sunlight and Zombies will stop following you after a while.

Basically all that can be ascertained from that picture is that it's small and mildly orange. Probably not Notch's red dragon, then.
