I actually thought Kick-Ass was nothing special. Right now, I'm seeing The Godfather.

Secret screening of James Gunn's new movie, "Super". Rainn Wilson was great.

It's nothing like Kick Ass other than the fact that it has ordinary people wearing costumes. Trust me.

Saw Rango. Loved it. Without the talking animals it would have made a fine straight Western film, and the CGI was insanely realistic. I'm certain they spliced live-action footage into it somewhere. Character design was top-notch (sure Bullet Magnet would enjoy the anthropomorphism*), and I'm almost sad they put slapstick comedy into it, since it adds to the things you could use to classify it as a kid's movie.

Just go and see it, animation fans. You too, everyone else.

*That's the longest word I have ever used unintentionally.

I've been waiting to see it for a long time.

Oh, is it actually Hunter S. Thompson who hits Rango with the car?

Two things:
  • Rango is an animated film. The guy driving the car is not an actor, but rather a CG model.
  • Hunter S. Thompson has been dead for six years.

I was going to try and make some long meandering argument to try and weasel out of this, but this time I'm just going to put my mistake down to ignorance. I didn't know he was dead, so using his real voice in a CGI representation of him was feasible.

I just watched the first Season of Jackass, getting the other two when I get paid. I love it so much.

Here's a really shitty looking video of the 'Land Skiing' stunt. This is my favorite stunt because Bam Margera, a man who has looked like this for as long as I can remember, runs straight into a stationary Ryan Dunn (the one actually doing the stunt) on his Skateboard, flips through the air and crashes face first on the pavement about ten feet away.

The part I'm talking about is in the last ten seconds. Not that you can tell.

My friend saw the latest Jackass movie. The 3D one. He says it was far more entertaining this time around because the cast have all aged into frail wash-ups and aren't the spry, foolhardy adrenaline junkies they once were.
They used to go in guns blazing, now they approach all of their stunts with trepidation. It's essentially two hours of old people getting hurt.

Pretty much. Knoxville and SteveO are coming up on their 40s. They're no professional stuntmen, they're just masochistic tardbaskets.
I'm sure it was fun when they were 20-something and drunk, but now they're like "We're still doing this shit? Fine, shoot me with the paintball gun, just be quick about it... please.."

I actually respect the guys from Jackass. They're (physically) suffering for their art, and putting themselves on the line for our amusement. That is showmanship.

That's what sets Jackass apart. Most other shows (especially foreign ones) that tried to emulate them are just annoying over-the-top douchebags who revel in doing really, gross, unfunny shit. They're just like "sign me the fuck up!". And they all look like scraggly, addled skinheads. Particularly The UK's Dirty Sanchez. That show sucks and can go fuck itself.

But with Jackass it's not that they want to, they just know that it will insurmountably entertaining. Despite the fact that they don't, they kind of know what they're doing; Knoxville plans ahead for his gross shit, Steve-O calmed the fuck down and is now sober, and Bam Margera is a nice mix of that 'dumbfuck go for it' mentality. It is the perfect show.

Chris Pontius is still the best, though.

Just saw Rango. Loved it to death.

They played the western tropes straight with a few tasteful twists. There was some derp-ness thrown in for the sake of making it a "family" film, but it was forgivable in lieu of all the other awesomeness.
The acting from the entire cast was solid and entertaining, with the exception of Tim Olyphant, whose Clint Eastwood impression needs a little work. I thought Depp was actually more endearing as a CG lizard than he is on camera. Nighy as Rattlesnake Jake was also sublime, that man sure can play "intimidating".
Hunter Thompson's cameo was awesome (Depp definitely reprising his role), as were the Disney acid sequences and other such Fear And Loathing-esque easter eggs.
I felt it dragged a bit in the middle, and not enough at the end, but I can't really complain.

This is worth seeing in theaters twice, and I almost never do that.

I have seen A Scanner Darkly tonight at the theater. It was incredible. Can't tell you how much I love this movie. I already got the DVD and have watched it about a dozen times for real, but to watch the movie at a big screen with some friends, makes it so more intense.
Great adaption of one of my most favorite writers.

Didn't really read anything else in your post out of fear of spoilers, but I'm aching to see this movie. The CGI textures in this film look simply astounding and it looks funny as hell too.

Really good and interesting movie, even if it was a little jarring getting used to Nazi's with neutral/american/english accents.

Teared up a bit at the end.

I just saw Xtro, an old Sci-fi film that just got released on DVD in Finland. (It was made in 1983, what took so long?!)

It's supposed to be a gore sci-fi horror -film, but in my opinion, it was just disturbing, bizarre and slightly creepy.

It was nothing special really, weird plot though.

Here's the IMDb info 'bout it if you want to know more: Click!

EDIT: It's worth a watch if you're into... weird movies. It was really bizarre, I'll say that.

Pretty much. Knoxville and SteveO are coming up on their 40s. They're no professional stuntmen, they're just masochistic tardbaskets.
I'm sure it was fun when they were 20-something and drunk, but now they're like "We're still doing this shit? Fine, shoot me with the paintball gun, just be quick about it... please.."
Steve-O is actually a really smart guy. What you see on camera and what you get in person are two totally different things.

I'm seeing it this weekend. My expectations are so high. Oh, so high.
