I didn't enjoy UP much. But I can see why others would. It was a nice adventure movie with an interesting concept.
It just didn't really appeal to me... Especially since I have a thing with old people. I don't mind them, but it's hard for me to relate with them in movies and such.. The kid was also a bit too goofy.
I loved the little dog though.

I thought the opening life story bit was the most touching thing Pixar's done, and then the rest of the movie was ok. (EDIT: by Pixar standards )

Just seen the new full length trailer for Toy Story 3

Am I the only one that didn't think UP was all that great?
It was good, don't get me wrong, all of Pixar's stuff is. I just found the film itself to be kind of dull, and if it was done by anyone other than Pixar it probably wouldn't have even gotten a second glance.

Of course I can't expect everything they make to be as good as The Incredibles.

I completely disagree. I thought the Incredibles was crap, while Up was gold.

The opening was one of the saddest, but well thought out animations I have ever seen. It was nice knowing why Carl was the way he way from the beginning, rather than finding out at the end which is how it usually happens.

Toy Story 3 looks really good, I like how they've moved Andy on and aren't just picking up from the same 8[?] year old boy they had in the previous two movies.

I'mnot looking forward to Cars 2 though, I thought thatwas the worst movie Pixar/Disney have ever made.

Also, was anyone else shocked to see blood in Up?

I think the unaired pilot traumatised me. Especiallywhen Tofa absolutely lost the plot because the entire world ending was his fault...
Are you sure you don't mean the unaired episode 13 'Epitaph 1', which actually was aired everywhere but the USA?

I hated Topher* at the start of the series, but by the end I had quite a geniuscrush on him.

*It's short for Christopher, see?

EDIT: Didn't see the next page. Up = pretty good (by Pixar's standards); Cars = great, but not their best. Cars 2 I'm sure cannot help but be shite.

i watched Adam & Paul, a very dark comedy about the day in the life of 2 Irish heroin addicts.

very interesting. actually, i loved it. its one of those films where you can't decide whether or not you enjoyed it until after you've watched it. it isn't on very long; just under 90 minutes, but a lot of surreal things happen in that time that force you to laugh.

one scene that's stuck with me all bloody day, is a scene with a kid who had Down syndrome. the 2 junkies, who seem to be 'lovable rogues' at this point for being so unlucky and hapless, lead the aforementioned kid who's waiting for a bus into an alley looking for drug money. the person who plays the kid is brilliant and tells them repeatedly he has no money for them. they take his school bag and root through, throwing out books and pictures in the process. despite all this the kid offers what small money he has which is the bus fare home. one of the junkies knocks it out of his hand and walks off grumbling. the other one feels guilty but follows his friend anyway. the kid is then left standing in the alley, tears in his eyes. no physical harm is made, but fucking christ after that i hated the junkies. shows what the drugs were doing to them. i don't know why that's stuck with me but i felt so sorry for the kid.

sorry. i think i've explained half the film, there.

The Incredibles was mind-numbingly average.

I saw Mitchell & Webb's Magicians. It was pretty good, it certainly had That Mitchell And Webb Feel. I think Tony stole the show though.

I just watched Predator.

IMO, they shouldn't have put that scene at the start of the Predator arriving on Earth, it would have made the rest of the film scarier.

ShutterShitter Island.

A movie with an over bearing score, an overly long run time, and several plot holes no matter how you interpret it.

Yeah that sounds like a...bundle of fun right there.

It's probably the best Robin Williams film he's made since...fuck, I don't know when. Since The Fisher King.

Gilliam and Williams are overdue for another team-up.
Gilliam expressed interest in making a film adaptation of Pratchett and Gaiman's Good Omens, with Williams playing Aziraphale. Considering Gilliam's age and Hollywood's weariness of him, it probably won't happen.

Watched The Box on demand.

The beginning was good and it promptly introduced the conflict.
Thing is, I was under the impression that the whole moral dilemma over pushing the button was going to be the primary focus of the film, but like twenty minutes in Diaz's character pushes the damn button and from there the plot shifts. It turns into a convoluted and needlessly complicated yarn about government conspiracy, aliens, and Stargate-style teleportation. Yep. It all comes together in the end, but even then I could really only say "eh". It was scatter shot, had weird pacing, and some serious inconsistency in character dynamics (the male protagonist, who they spent the first half of the film introducing as a John Every-man or below-average intelligence turns out to be a freakin' rocket scientist. And later on breaks out into a scholarly, poetic monologue to assuage his wife's concerns while they're slow dancing at some party).

All in all, not a terrible film, but it drags like hell and just leaves you with a serious feeling of dissatisfaction by the time all the loose ends are wrapped up.

9

Super High Me

Comedians of Comedy

and The Illustrated Man, which fucking pissed me off. One of my favorite short story collections of all time, and the movie adaption of the stories was pretty good, but they fucking ruined the illustrated man himself. Good god damn.

Also, 9 was quite meh.

I'd like to think that 9 is going to lay the groundwork for more adult themed CG movies, but the best part of it were the monsters. Really wasn't a fan of the story or the script.

The monsters weren't even that good. Also, how the fuck did the scientist outlive everyone else? Chronologically, the movie made no fucking sense.

The whole thing was just underwhelming.
