The town hall is looking amazing.

Here's DH looking thoughtfully at the town mine shortly after its construction.

I wanted to create a mine, not a church. So I added a wheel on it for the (not yet constructed) lift, inspired by real mine shafts.

It's now open and ready for use, BTW - It works like the mine back at RF. The black fog at bedrock makes mining down there a little more challenging though.

I actually realized I filmed the celebration after the front of the town hall was complete so I might upload that later

My source of inspiration for the town hall.

I think I could follow the rest of its design. Most of the colours on this building is manageable in MC. Concerning the interior, I was thinking of an entry hall with steps and coloumns, a series of offices, along with the appropriate appointments for each of us (it's a town hall, thus we form the council), and a conference hall.

Another picture of the town hall, taken during the celebration of the completion of the front of the building (laptop quality).

Man, my mouse has been tripping out since a few days so I'm planning on getting a new one today.

City Hall looks awesome! Nice work! I'll try to find a way to incorporate my bridge to the courtyard infront of it somehow.

That was the first cake I ever baked. *sniff*

We could potentially copy the sides, roof and so on from that photo, too. If you're up for it, DH, you could try designing something in Creative and post a few shots. If you made the plan, others of us could copy it. Do the interior afterwards.

What's the town hall gonna contain? Notice board, communal chests...

Ah, memories

Anyway, I spent a while yesterday exploring in a map with Exoddus at the centre.

Unfortunately it's a bit buggy (those vertical lines) but here it is, with annotations (also, I think a glitch might have destroyed the map immediately after I took the screenshot, so this might be all that remains).

None of the names have to stick, though the Mongo River I think is apt.

The Archipelago of Unusual Geography is mildly interesting, and the mountains above the lava pool are fantastic, well worth a look (their highest point is 4 blocks below the map's upper limit).
Accidental Survival Island is where I spent one interesting night while cartographing.
Dead Splat Island is where I met a creeper (but not for very long).
The Grand Canyon is a mostly open-to-the-sky ravine, somewhere in that forest.

I'm gonna modify the Mongo River a bit to cut it off from the ocean there, and give it a thorough exploration. I don't know what's at either end but I hope to find out. One end goes near the mountains So we could perhaps modify its course and build Ma'Spa there.

I have to get my finger out of my arse and finish editing and uploading the tour of the 1.7 area. The town hall looks really, really amazing now that it's a bit more completed - Me and Hulaa had to light it up a bit more though. Zombies were coming out of the front door.

BTW, since none of the other mods have done it yet and I kept being asked, me, Hulaa and Wariopunk cleared an area to the north of the town hall - I've assigned four 10x10 plots and four 15x15 plots. We'll see how this works for now.

There's other smaller mis-shaped plots surrounding that and near the forest too that are up for grabs. Another plot right next to the main square is reserved for communal use though - I feel something special ought to be put there, perhaps a dormitory.

If people have plans for larger buildings, tell me or another mod, there's lots of land that hasn't been cleared and assigned yet in all directions (particularly south east near the mine, and west behind the town hall - North-East ought to be reserved for farming plots). Some of the plots I've created today can also be joined together if not yet occupied. Try to fill the plots closer to the town hall first though - And we shouldn't expand any further north.

Fences can be removed - But please make sure you keep your buildings within the plot areas. And leave a one square verge alongside the cobble roads (unless you're linking your houses to the roads).

EDIT: It's also my opinion that the river should not be blocked - So I unblocked the entire thing by removing the river entrance to Splat's farm and modifying the small wooden bridge. You can now get a boat all the way through.

Oh and:

I suggested earlier that there be Red Stone dams built along the river, in a similar fashion to what the Wolvarks did with Sekto Springs. The dams could be huge structures, complete with maze like paths to get to the dam release button, with the paths themselves made out of obsidian for anti mob purposes, and Skeleton spawners (and the newly added Silverfish mobs, randomly scattered) in places where Wolvarks spawned in the original game. Of course this might be a server wide event once or twice, and then a path would be built straight to it, or closer to the spot where you pull up in the boat. This will probably get ignored, but I'm just throwing my two cents in.

I was intending to construct a Spleef Arena at Exoddus. I might go on the higher ground behind the Town Hall, unless anyone objects.

I'd love to play some Spleef. What blocks do you plan to use for the floor?

Also, having it over the void would be epic.

I'm planning dirt ('cus it mines fast with iron shovels). I can't get through bedrock without a lot of Endermen to help, and their union is too good. If I feel nice I'll do water. if not then, well, a lot of air and just about enough bedrock (big holes just have style).

I'm waiting for Bukkit to be updated to 1.8, after which I've been planning on installing a few nice (though non gameplay effecting) plugins. One of which could be a Spleef plugin which does things like keep score and auto-resets the arena, if you like?

Keeping score seems a bit silly; if you fall off, you lose.

Auto-resetting might be handy, but do I have to wait for that before I build?

No you don't. When the plugin is working you can use a special tool to mark the boundries of your arena so the game will recognize it as such.

I've claimed a large area of land between the Town Hall and the Mongo River for the construction of the Spleef Arena. It didn't have anything on it but Edd, Mr Town Planner, if you wanted the land for anything let me know.

I'm land-clearing at the moment and would appreciate any assistance. Once clearance is done I won't be working on it until my tower is finished - I just want to get the land claimed before it gets turned into building plots. I need to work on the design before I make it anyway - the one I've done in creative is rather basic.

(Note for myself - the area is 39x36). If anyone has any ideas for design feel free to contribute. So far I have a stone brick box with the word 'SPLEEF' on the front, and a glass ceiling. It's a major public building so it'd be nice to make it look good. I'll have to google sports stadiums.

Make the Bird's Nest Stadium by spinning around and right-clicking randomly.

@ Splat - I'm only town planning 'cause nobody else is doing it, setting out some plots for some smaller homes around the central area (I'm giving people a task with doing that - I want those plots filled! :P). People are free to expand the town how they like if they think of new buildings to put down - Just so long as they put roads or pathways around their new constructions so that they don't block further development, keep to the areas that they've earmarked, and keep it central to the town so we can put a big wall around the thing eventually (possibly in one week to let people have time to come up with ideas for the central town before walling it off).

And sure, I'll give you a hand with clearance.

You've officially adopted the role of being The One Person Who Knows What's Actually Going On. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't treading on anyone's toes

Hmm, I think a big, square Colosseum might be quite Minecraft...
