Boat

:
What have you read about the boat?
Well, nothing in the new article, but I meant the same general info everyone's probably heard, which I guess is that the boat is Stranger's companion, it sounded similar to Wind Waker.

Shell Man delivers again. He took two pics and combined into one with a little enhancement. The guy in the shot is Production Designer, Silvio Aebischer.

I just love the blob!

I just noticed the glukkon on the hunter's belt buckle. The warts on his stomach. The freckles all over the little assistant guy's face. QUite detailed and beautiful. I feel this helps to dissolve some of the worrying doubts that sprung up after the X Factor thing. Or whatever it was called.

Oh, and Shell Man/Oddguy, great job with getting the pictures up.

I was glad to see the warrior versions of the two "native" types. It indicates that we may see a great deal of variety in Stranger, I'm also hoping that the addition of the Octigi on the upper right will mean they will be in the game as well. If my theory about multiple hunters is true, we might have quite a population of creatures in the next game:

Salimanders (regular and warrior classes)
Frog Blobs (regular / warrior)
Clakkerz
Hunters ( including slug head, several tophat guys, ballcap guy, alligator face, horn head(s) and maybe even Shell Man )
Octigi ?
Steef
Live Ammo (5 or more types)
Wartslogs (those things with the tusks)

I would bet that we'll also see at least one species that we've already seen in previous games, it seems reasonable. All we need now are the diverse, lush environments that were missing in MO.

Sarumai-appearing warrior salamanders... japanese style native hats on salamanders?
What culture do you think the salamanders is based off?
The pictures are really great!

I know. He seems to fit in almost too well after only eight posts...as if he's been watching us for a while before joining...to learn our ways.

Oh my gawd! Run for your lives!

EDIT: *comes back*

What am I saying? Shell Man is awesome! We can trust him.

They have another pic of one of the octigi, the same as one of the ones in Xav's pic. Unfortunately, its at the back in shadow - but nevertheless:

Oops, I think it's spelled gloktigi... Is that a "0.2" above the gloktigi? And how many different species of "hunter" are there going to be? Are those all designs for different characters or just different production skeches of one character? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

EDIT: Oh, Esus beat me to it.

it's probably Gloktigi you are right.
maybe 0.1 and 0.2 are the same and 0.2 simply is in a "suit"
and I think several hunters should be great!
I realy want OWI to release some good pics of them, please some new Hi-Res!

I think that the hunter with the searex(maybe?) tatoo is the same species as the ugly ears one. Mainly because of the jaw and the ugly ears. As far as I know there are three "official" hunter species. The first one we saw (the "grub"), the ugly eared ones and the tall hat, buck toothed ones. Are there any others we have seen renders off?

I don't think there are more shown yet, but maybe more are to come, and we will have some surprises (like the tatoo one which is totally new)

The Octigi

To the right of the Gloktigi is a chart of it's front and side views, which means that the design might have gone into the modeling phase(3D modellers use those charts to create the character in CG) So that hightens to likelyhood that we will see it in the game.

I'm sending the Live ammo chart today, and that's about it for the particularly interesting pics that were in the magazine, the rest are just pics of the Oddworld building, offices and staff.

How about the Alligator jaw one at the top? Or does he count as the ears one?
Also, there's that Shell guy.

Oh! Oh oh oh! The love I'm feeling for Oddworld now is beyond words: so I shaln't waste my time. Needless to say, I spy fantastic characters, brilliant envionments, gorgeous design and remarkable artwork. Stranger is gonna rock so much!

About the Hunters, on top of the "Grub hunter", the croc in the top hat and the funny-eared-mechanic-orc, there's a dude with a horned hat and some geezer with one heck of a hunchback amongst the top set of design images. They're not rendered, though. I reckon the Orcs and the hunter with the scar could be the same, as the only differences I can spot a quite small - the size of the upper lip, for instance, and the shape of the lower lip. And the clothes, obviously. Maybe the one on the cover is an older or just fatter one.

It seems like at least one Western town is actually going to be suspended over... over... over one heck of an environment, I'll say that. My planned essay on the physical geography of Oddworld is going to be pretty stumped when it comes to explaining all that away!

Thanks so much for sharing this Shell Man! You clearly deserved the best newcomer award!

Damn! I'm not here one day and look what happens! I need to be more dillegent about my visits!
Looks like we got some new pet names! I made a list of the ones we have so far...don't ask me why.

Horn head
Top hat guy
Ballcap Orc
Alligator Face
Slug Head
Grub Hunter
Karate Blobs
Bitty Blaster Blob
Salimanders
Samurai Sals
Hunch-Geezer
Hickens
Wartslog

WTF!? Is it like drawn on a dry-erase board or something? I think it's interesting how they wrote multiple names and picked one...or two.

I vote for A-Wrapnid! What do you all say?

A-Wrapnid sounds too much like a pokemon, thats why Bolamite is better.

The bug on the far right, half hidden, zaps them with lightning. I deduct this because on some of the names, they include "light...." "zap...." and "light..." again
