Good discovery oddguy :fuzzle: Though it's a shame the magazine had to end, as it sounded as if it was really different and innovative.
I've reported it on Oddworld Universe, none the less. Alcar... |
Thats cool mann I really want that magazine. Do you have to order it online?
|
I saw the Feb issue at my local Borders. I called Borders today and asked if they had the March issue. They said it should be stocked within the week. I hope I can get my hands on it or I'll...be upset. Anyway, to answer your Q PA, you don't have to go online to get it.
-oddguy :fuzcool: |
Remember, Butler-Oddguy; you must scan us that mag! As a butler it is your duty. :fuzwink:
|
you shoulda still brought the February issue. Every pic we can get our hands on - be it small or on the back cover - is priceless :p
|
There's still time to buy the the February issue and I highly suggest someone purchase it before it's too late! I want to see a scan of the image with the Scorpion-crab and the Karate Blob's holding a staff.
|
I'm going to Borders today and checking it out. I do suggest those that have Polygon in their area to buy it themselves and not just wait for my scans. The scans are for the people who have no way of buying Polygon.

I could only get the February Issue of Polygon today. I'm going to have to check back at Borders for the March issue. Until then...

wow! thank you sooooo much for the picture! It's superb!
oh, and well done for finding that article! |
It was so funny going to Borders today. I asked the clerk there if they had the March Issue of Polygon. He was like, "Lemme check in the back." He then came back and told me that there were so many boxes of March Magazines and that I should wait 'till they stocked it...should be within this week.
"Find it and I'll pay extra," I said. The guy laughed and told me not to worry and just check back within the week. Defeated, I bought the Feb issue so I wouldn't come back empty handed to you guys!:D Oh, but I'll get the March one soon. Mark my words! -oddguy :fuzzle: |
Much hotness! Thanx butler-Oddguy :D

That picture is absolutely awesome. Good job oddguy :fuzzle:
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...achmentid=1580 I find the 'spider' creature quite intriguing. There seems to be a little hole on top. Possibly where the creature could spray some acidic substance, as a defence mechanism. As its abdomen (or the really large part at the back :p) could hold quite a bit of venom. I find that the Mudokon look-alike creatures also have webbed feet. Alcar... |
Yeah, that 'spider' thing does look awesome. I see you've allready upgraded your signature.;) Whether the 'spider' plays an important role, or is just a background character remains to be seen.
-oddguy :fuzcool: |
They're probly like fuzzles, they're small but play an important role. Or they could be like fleeches, small but deadly.
Anyway, I know this isn't the best time to get all 'scientific-like' but I wouldn't call them spiders. Spiders are arachnids and to be an arachnid you must have two body segments and eight legs. This spider does have 2 body segments from what I can see, but it seems to have only four visible legs. But, seeing how it looks just like a spider I guess it's okay we can call it that for the time-being. :p :p :p |
Of course. But this is Oddworld, so we call unknown things what they resemble most on Earth. If it wasn't a 'spider', I would have called it a 'crab'. Which actually makes more sense...
Damn. Alcar... |
We could call it something like the Hickens; a mix of tow words it resembles.
We could call it Crabster or Spab or....well...Scrab! |
Holy crap thats one hell of a picture. Thanks so much for scanning that in Oddguy!
|
Well Im STILL waiting for mine in the mail which according to Polygon was susposed to be here last week. It a real shock though that their departing so soon, it looked like it had alotta good stuff. I hope I still get my March issue though...O_o.
|
Awesome pic Oddguy, too bad the magazine is ending. Doesnt look like while get to see that huge inside story they did at OWI for the April issue. :( But atleast we got a small bit of new stuff in this issue.
|
Thanks kids!
Al, I scanned that pic from the February issue. We're still going to see the huge inside story in March. The last issue of Polygon. As Alcar said, a fitting way to end. -oddguy :fuzcool: |
:
On another note, the blob and the salamander really look related to me. They have the same mouths, but the tall guy has more rubbery, water usable looking, skin. I also like the fact the blob is carrying a stone axe and a primitive spear. This is the sort of thing that I think mudokongs should have had - not insanely fast shooting energy "guns". |
The Spider-thing
Hello, I've already aquired the new issue(great article) and I found out that that little spider thing is what is known as "Live Ammo." Apparently, little creatures will be used as ammo in Stranger, including the spider, which shoots a web to ensnare enemies. You can see it on a board where they apparently were trying to come up with names for the different ammo types. Few words were actually uttered about the new game though, just some interesting pictures in the background, including a couple of those octigi people and several hunters, akin to the one's we've already seen.
|
Welcome newbie! Everybody now loves you for providing the info...including me!:D Anyway, I haven't yet gotten the March Issue of Polygon. I called Borders this morning and they still haven't stocked it.:flames: I'm starting to get very impatient.
EDIT: So, Alcar was right...It is supposed to be a spider! We should've listened to him from the beginning. :fuzemb: Forgive us Alcar! :crying: -oddguy :fuzcool: |
Stop those tears trickling forth, oddguy: you should know that all Oddworld creatures are unique from Earthly ones. It's not a spider. It just has certain elements of them, including the web spinning.
Anyway, this confirms what a couple of sources have hinted at, such as the mention of the game being about taking advantage of the environment, and of course the Christmas card poem! Read it again. ;) Fab job, Shell Man! If you can scan in the images and provide a transcript, you just know we'd all love you. 'Specially me, I wouldn't have to provide yet another link to oddguy's profile on OddBlog. |
Yeah, scans and transcript would be awesome! If you're able to do that, you'd be much appreciated and given lots of love and candy!:D
I'm dying to see these images. I don't care who scans 'em first as long as I get to see them! -oddguy :fuzcool: |
I need those scans...
it seems that polygon magasine is full of juicy info anyway I hope OW4 isn't too much FPS orientated, I guess we just have to wait |
Heee
Thanks to all! I'll see what I can do about scanning them. In the meantime I should let you know that they probably won't be called spiders, there's a list of possible names, some with stars next to them which I guess means they like it. The Two names highlighted were "bolamite" and "A-wrapnid." There's also a stink bomb that looks like a skunk, (Stunkz) one that looks like a beetle with a hard shell,(Thud-slug) a chipmunk-thing that distracts enemies with trash talk,( ? ) and possibly one that electricutes.( ? ? )
|
 Those sound hillarious! I can't wait to see more of this game.
|
yeah Shell Man! more!
thank you soo much for the sweet info's! |
