We will never know when this time will come until it comes – such is the privilege of God. You had just better hope you have all led righteous and fulfilling lives or do not think that begging will save you from your fates.
I was raised Catholic {not the American-style "God'll kill you if you don't make babies" style, but the normal Irish style}. I do not follow the belief activly anymore. However, I belive it is enough to not commit mortal sin to stay out of hell. Still, this is about 6/6/6 and the apocalips, and not specific religious belief, so lets get back on topic.

It will be the end of the world. America is the pinnacle of of the world economy. We are the biggest buyers, if we go, you go. Just like in the Great Depression,
You are aware that America is not a country. It's a contenant. As for the USA being the cruch of the world economy, you are aware it is one of the most in debt countries in the world? All ever other country has to say is "Pay us our money back or we're not giving you credit and supplies" and the USA crumbles into nothing.

Also, the USA has crashed economicaly before. And these days we've got China emerging as a new super-economy and the re-rise of Japan. Heck, even the EU is getting big enough to contend with the USA. We're even keeping Microsoft at bay!

1). I am pretty sure America is a country, North America is the continent. The debt of the US doesn't matter so much as long as we remain the biggest buyers, then we remain the center point of the economy. And yes, all any country would have to do is speak up, but if China and other countries are to remain this growing economic power house, they have to keep selling to us. The United States is still one of the wealthiest countries in the world.

Used speaks the truth. If we were to stop buying from China, their economy would crash. The US and China are far too deeply inter-dependent in their economies to cut off ties with one another.

And yes, don't be so anal. Everyone usually refers to the USA as simply America.

Using 2002 figures and talking only about Britain:

15.5% of our exports go to America, the rest go elsewhere - hardly an unrecoverable position, is it?

Our imports come mainly from Germany at 12.9%, with America slightly trailing at 11.9%. Again, we are NOT dependant on America's economy and resources. Sure, there would be shock waves if it were to one day fall into the sea or something. But the end of the world? Not even close.

But what countries is germany dependent on? And what countries are those countries dependent on? It all roots back to the grandaddy of the economy, which is the US.

Well, considering the supposed uber-efficiency (what twat would use 'uber'? This twat) of Germany I doubt they are a country highly dependant on outside factors. Besides, I hear they're not that popular these days...

Now, idle speculation, but I really doubt that measures have not been put in place to stop a worldwide economic collapse. That would just be dumb - and the first rule of business is to protect your investment. Or maybe that's just a quote from Revolver.

Truth be told, not many measures have been put in place to save the economy. Because it all goes back to oil. Ethinol is bullshit, it takes more money to produce it than its output of energy. And I doubt even the British would be willing to go foward with it. If you look on Nate's link, it gives an exclusive analysis on the oil crisis and the doom we will face from it.

Hmm, that site seems to be a mixture of apparently real statistics and pure doom-mongering (as you would expect from a site called Exit Mundi!). It's like reading the front page of The Daily Mail.

"Take wind energy. Wind is obviously stuff that doesn’t contain a lot of energy -- just compare slamming your head into a bit of wind with slamming it into a concrete wall. And what’s more: to build wind mills, you’ll have to weld steel, drive all kinds of stuff and engineers around in trucks and cars, build factories and make thousands of components. In the end, it costs more energy (oil) to actually build a windmill, than a windmill will ever generate during its entire lifetime!"

This, for instance, is obviously a load of bollocks! The scientific method he employs to show us how ineffective wind energy is to... bang our head against wind. Yes. Right. And his/her (gotta be a guy, surely?) assertion that wind farms will actually never produce more energy than it took to make them... well, it’s unbelievable that anyone could write that with a straight face! And I suspect that he probably didn’t.

But, anyway, thanks for the heads up, there was some interesting stuff.

Used, when dealing with the EU, most of our exports and imports come from the EU. Money is mainly kept within the EU.

As for "American's being from America" and "America being a country", you are aware people from Brazil are American? And people from Mexico are American? And people from Canada are American?

I'm sure the world economy would take a huge dive if the US was ignored by all traders... but any economy can take a huge hit and survive. Just look at the Wallstreet Crash.

If the EU keeps as much cash in their own economy, then it sounds you guys might be safe. Crap, we need another european on this thead.

Okay, quick question: are some people seriously suggesting that if America goes under that that would be the end of the world?

You could demolish every building in the world and topple every government, people would still live on...

I've heard the date is going to be something like 6/6/6 soon and the world's gonna end.
It's interesting that the date going to be 6/6/6 this year but the world didn't end in the year 1000, it didn't end in the year 2000, it ain't gonna end now. Nothing's gonna happen. Accept it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people with no religion who don't believe in anything unless it is scientifically proven. I believe is spirits and all that stuff, I've had heaps of experiences, I'm just saying a date is a date and nothing is going to happen.

I don't believe in destiny or fate or whatever. The world's gonna end when it can't take any more of our crap, or when we destroy it ourselves(go planet of the apes!! ). Or when something else happens. But whatever, why worry about it? Enjoy life while you can and stop being so afraid of a rediculous theory which can be proven wrong in so many ways...

Put it this way, by the time it's 6/6/6 in Europe it'll already be the 7th in Australia. Does that make you all feel better?

Yes, I agree with the general people posting. The economy would crash and we would all be slightly buggered for a few years, but that would be it. There would be more supplies in everything to go around the rest of the world. Think about how much food and energy the US uses, and how that could be spread out across third world countries. *Goodie Two SHoes*

But the fact some people think the end of the US means the end of the world is just laughable.

I'm an Irish European. You {I think} are an American US citizen. You are as much an American as people from Mexico, or Cuba, or Canada. And the only reason I bring this up is a lot of people get pissed off when they're told "You're not American" even though they're from the Americas. US citizens kinda stole the word for describing someone from those 2 contenants.

Dude, don't split hairs.

Yes, all of those people may be from the Americas, but nobody calls them "American." Or, if they do, they use "North" or "South American" depending on which continent they're from. But that's beside the point. In terms of conventional usage, used is right.
