I quite like the hunger bar idea, in that it's original (and every bit as realistic as eating food to restore health - computer games are going to produce a generation with very weird ideas about how medicine works, if they haven't already). But I hope it's done sufficiently well as to not hinder exploration; it'd be pretty rubbish if you had to stop caving every 5 minutes to let your health regenerate.
I think the eating animation looks cool. I certainly don't think it'd get in the way as much as maps do when you walk around with them - seriously, trying to look down and getting a map in your face is some seriously shit design.
How so? If you don’t keep your hunger bar full, the game behaves exactly as it did before the update. Nobody is forcing you to eat all the time.
Only thing I don’t like about 1.8 is those experience points. It just seems unnecessary, especially when he actually says in the video “we don’t know what we’re going to do with that yet”.
It would make sense for an Adventure mode, but not Survival.

For a game still in development, I'm happy for them to add it in and play around with it depending on the response of the players. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being a feature that is only in Adventure mode.

How the hell would you look at the map otherwise? It's good because it doesn't break gameplay and it's not far from real life.

Oh yeah, fair point. Maybe he was just tortured until he lost consciousness.
I find them annoying, too. How are you supposed to explore while holding a map without looking down every so often? Swapping between that and another tool is one way, but that's annoying.
I got bored,so i entered the single player and then i went on to check out the sky dimension, its quite dangerous,i spawned on top of a mountain lol,so i wanted to share some pics with all of ya,i might even go to the far lands of the sky dimension if anyone requests it.
if anyone asks why does it say that the game isnt registered,i cant access minecraft from my uncles computer so i had to download a pirated version :/
Sky Dimension is the official aether. It exists in the game but is inaccessible without cheating, and doesn't really contain much. It's unfinished (in fact its not really started) which is why it's not yet accessible. Notch says he intends to implement it into the game, but he needs to work on it a lot first, and he doesn't want to do that until he's made the Nether more to his liking.
In other news, was this really worth a new thread?
Also, look out for that creeper! (lol)
well its quite hard to be in the sky dimension, its cool but,if notch makes it in game grapling hooks would be a nice addition... Its hard to reatch other islands without making bridges...Oh damn that creeper he wore a pumpkin disquise!( XD )
and yes the sky dimension is the same thing like the aether as splat said.
I read something about it would first be introduced in a dream the players had (you go to sleep and enter the sky dimention) and later could acess it like you could the nether.
I has a problem.
You know seed 404? The one where you hit the patch of gravel and it opens to a huge cave? I type in the seed, and It takes me to a random place. I cannot find the gravel anywhere. I also cannot use the F3 button and use the talk button to teleport to coordinates.

In the mod, there's 3 player dungeons that have unique bosses in them for you to defeat, and you can get some amazing materials from them.
I hope Notch doesn't mess that up, it sounds amazing. ♥
