Exotic? There's probably a jumper in your room right now!!
Eeh, even so. Tiny little buggers that aren't dangerous to humans and look vaguely cute/way too absurd to be threatening? Pffft.

On topic; what trees are in your orchard STM? I've always wondered what plants beekeepers (though you dislike the word) use.
Well apple trees and one measly pear tree. They are very old, one was from a time before my granddad built my house in the 50s (I think the farmer who used to own the land before he sold it to my family had a small orchard) so we aren't too sure what most of the apples are but one tree is a cooking apple tree and there are a few cox apples, also the grass below is riddled with daisies and we have it over grown at the top of the garden too so they thrive on wild flower like fox gloves and blue bells when they are available. However bumble bees like those more and my bees travel up to 5 miles away from the hive so it's hard to tell what they like without biological pollen consultation.

I love jumping spiders. If I had one that was like, Cat sized, I'd keep it as a pet. How cool would that be? Taking it for walks, Feeding it rats, maybe playing fetch....
Awww. Now I HAVE to draw one.

Spiders are homophobes.

I once watched this program that wolf spiders perform courtship dances infront of females to court them. Sometimes wolf spiders get confused about gender...and a male would perform it's funky little dance infront of another male...

What does the other spider do? Tries to kill him.

Spiders have no democracy, and homosexuality is illegal in their society.

Whoa! Max is not scary... Max is a fluffy bunny-man who hands out chocolate to children

Anyway I think spiders are really cute. But it's kind of random whether I wanna touch them or not....
When I was akid I used to throw random insects in spiderwebs and watch the spider eat them and stuff.

Last night a giant leopard moth was on my back window. My cat accidentally knocked him down because she comes up to the window when she wants to come inside. I carefully moved the little guy to the garage where he'd be safe. I'd hate to see something so beautiful callously smushed by my Fido's clumsy paws.

I love bugs, and I have a strange desire to protect them. Whenever I see one drowning or crossing the street, I make a point to move it to safety. I know it's a pointless endeavor, as just about everything around them could potentially kill them. My feeble attempts at keeping them from harm is more for my sake of mind.
The only bugs I don't like are flies and house centipedes. Fuck house centipedes.

Semi-related story: I lived in Cyprus when I was much younger. The day we arrived and visited our house, we found a dead centipede in the garden.

It was massive, and had white and turquoise stripes. To this day I've never see anything else like it, living or dead.

House centipedes are the only breed of centipedes that actually bug me (pun intended). Then again, I haven't dealt with many other kinds. I think black millipedes are adorable. Especially when they roll into balls.

There was a black millipede on the wall in the hallway yesterday. Still perplexed how it even got in.

It didn't bother me at all, so I just left it be, which is odd considering I indiscriminately destroy anything with more than four legs.

These guys are also pretty useful in getting rid of pests. They don't really like going out in the open so it's rare to see them (unless you surprise them by turning on a light), they can't really hurt you, the only bad thing about them is all the legs really.

I like to think it's because millipedes lack what make most bugs unattractive. They move slow instead of being quick and unpredictable, their tiny legs move in a way like we use our legs, and if you so much as touch them they just curl up until you go away.

I've met people who dislike woodlice though, and they act basically the same.

I'm well aware that they're helpful, but they do bite. And hard. I also do see them surprisingly often, but I can probably credit that to the fact that my room is dark and in the basement.

There are videos on Youtube of live mice being fed to centipedes. Brilliant.

There's also one of a mouse being fed to piranhas. That was less cool, and actually disturbing. It was not quick.

I find spiders OK. Used to be afraid of them as a kid, but I grew out of it. Probably because of their eating flies, which annoy me a lot. Then again, we don't have a wide variety of spiders here. A larger one crawling about would probably make me fall out of my chair.

:
When I was akid I used to throw random insects in spiderwebs and watch the spider eat them and stuff.
I did that too with flies when I was swatting them at my grandmother's. They are choosy though, they were not interested in flies that didn't move anymore.

Wasps, I don't like. Stepped into one with bare feet when I was younger, and was later stung by a ninja wasp that hid in a shoe I was retrieving from its place. Cheeky little vermin. I'm cool with bees for some reason. They seem less interested in me, they just mind their own business whenever I see them. Wasps tend to fly about in front of my face, they just provoke a response so that they can sting me.

Also, bedbugs. They haven't been mentioned before, it seems, though I feel they should have a place in this thread. Does this mean noone else had any experience with them?

Argggh. I hate Moths and Spiders.

I was in the shower once and I saw this huge moth just fly past my face. Scared the living crap outta me.

i love moths. i love garden spiders. i dislike harvester spiders and crane flies. i can't touch them because i worry too much about accidentally breaking one of their legs, and if i do i feel instantly sick. poor, miserable, fucked-up things.
