What wishful thinking? He was asserting that a 3D AE wouldn't be able to have secret areas, which put a HUGE boundary in his wishful thinking. I kindly went and explained to him that it is not the case, because a 3D version could have different secret areas, not just copypasta from the original.
On topic of Sligstorm, I don't think it would be a good plot device to make him have 12 hours left, at least if it is the case for the whole game. If it's just for the end, sure, but I'd think that destroying a facility on Oddworld requires a bit more strategy and planning, not to mention various other quests such as a recruitment of a small group of sligs to help you infiltrate the facility.

Actually, mindless violence games usually do the best. Take a look at Halo Reach - Sacrificing decent storylines for mindless gore and better graphics.

...and the Multiplayer. Got to have the multiplayer. Maybe the other players joining the game can be the recruits, and they look like clones of you in different colours! That way we'd be following Halo's Multiplayer and loads of people play that...

Actually you ruined it first by 1) creating it in the first place by attempting to repeat a joke that wasn't funny the first time and 2) not including the word "odd" and 3) creating it in the first place by attempting to repeat a joke that wasn't funny the first time. I'd rather be a crazy slig with mental problems, who also has only 12 hours left to destroy everything and create as much chaos within the Magog Cartel as possible. That's what I think SligStorm should be, but that's just me. It's a perfect plot for total Oddworld destruction.

We haven’t decided whether to make Abe’s Oddysee, Abe’s Exoddus, something new, or a combination of the above.
I just read this now and I reckon a combination is a brilliant idea. Since the two are direct follow ups to each other, I think it would flow nicely. Like a second part for those who finish the original game.
They'd have to change the cutscenes a bit if they do that though. I mean, it wouldn't make much sense for Abe to say "I just saved 99 mudokons from RuptureFarms", when the player may have only saved 40. I would recommend completely removing that phrase to make it easier though, it would be too much work to change what Abe says every time depending on how many saved.
It would be cool if they did it, but seems unlikely.

Exactly, feedback is the key. So if they make all games at the same time, and release them at the same time, they cannot add the feedback in the other games before release. Not that they would release all at the same time. But they are already working on more projects at once. To me that seems that the focus is not entirely on one game as it actually should have been. I see those things happen at where I work (totally unrelated, but the principle is the same), that they have to split their focus on several projects, and loose the full potention of the single project that could have been much better if they had given attention seperately. Now all they do is put more attention to those already release projects because they were not good enough, so that is a total waste of funds, resources and image to the customer!

I completely agree with this. I think they should just focus ONLY on SW, then MO, then ABE HD, and so on. They're trying to get too much things at hand, and that's why OWI just didn't get to function 100%, because Lorne just got tons of ideas, like the Oddworld Movie, Citizen Siege, the Quintology aka Pentology and so on. I like the ideas from Lorne, but please, finish one until the other. That said, I think, they're making a fine job.

That had nothing to do with what I said whatsoever. I know it's not mainstream, but anyone who's played it loves it because it has a great storyline. REACH, for example, has shit for story and has good multiplayer, so that makes it better in everyone's eyes. Everyone has played REACH, but almost no one has played Oddworld.

On topic: Bringing back sligstorm would be nice. It sounds fun, and it looks like it's have a reasonable plot.

With SligStorm, are you on about the actual plot or my one that I thought the game would be good as?

Also, I've played Munch's Oddysee, but it was ages ago that I did. There might have been a secret area. My point was (AO/AE BTW), this version they're making is the original game, so it will have all the original secrets. You can't make some of the 2D secrets 3D without making them obvious. That would defeat the point.

If you don't get it, take a look at RuptureFarms, the the secrets behind the barrels, if it were 3D, you'd be able to see a gap there.

Another point is, a lot of people liked the original game being as it was, 2D. What they're doing now is technically the same thing since the background graphics in AO and AE were 3D, just put in a 2D view. With newer consoles and PCs, the power is much less limited, and can handle semi-"true 3D".

Also, did anyone else agree with the combination idea? I thought that was great.

I don't think it's a good idea at all. The games' stories work very well with them as separate games, and I think it would suck to mash them together.

The only problem I would've had if they were combined was the fact you'd be doing the scrabs and paramites twice, it might be a bit boring. Two seperate games maybe good...

SW and MO are just HD remasterings - not exactly the most labour-intensive projects. I'm sure they can handle multitasking in this case.

I like the idea of remaking the original with minimal changes and leaving the new stuff for new developments.

Oddysee and Exoddus just wouldn't work in full 3D

This comment will seem off topic, but hopefully it'll fit in somewhere.
In the game SPORE, my favorite level is playing as an animal. Killing and running around is really fun to me. As soon as everything is dead or befriended, I deletd the planet because I don't like doing anything else with them.
To me, having a game from the point of view of a Scrab or Paramite would be cool, because I enjoy that sort of thing. Ooh, maybe they could make a game about a Meech who has to find and rescue other meeches...That would be sweet!
