I've just watched "Abe's Exoddus- The Movie", you know, the compilation of cutscenes from AE that OWI made and was nominated for a grammy. It was actually really good, but the interesting thing was, it used the bad ending where Abe gets executed, which supports Max's theory that OWI would like the quintology to have a tragic ending for Abe.
That's kind of off topic but. The reason for the tragic ending is to show whether or players can not only use their head to pass elaborate obstacles and puzzles but to test players to see if can make the right choices. Whether its leaving a Mudokon behind knowing you can save him, killing him for the shear pleasure of watching him die, or doing the right thing and trying to save him. Kind of like Resident Evil I, with its puzzles and options that can cause one of three alternate endings.Or BioShock's three alternate endings caused by the players decisions.

That's why there's a bad ending in the game, but GlukkonGluk is referring to the short film.

Gah, beaten to the link. :P

Wikipedia is wrong. The Oddworld articles on Wikipedia are terrible.

Sorry, Max :P and rightyho, but at least that article led me to finding out about the short film, I enjoyed it despite having seen all those cutscenes before. It makes me realize, an Oddworld film really is a great idea. Not that I ever had any doubts about that

Trust me, RadicalEdward, you'd know if there was...

EDIT: Just checked out Max's links. So not only does Oddworld still have a fanbase after all these years, it is also popular with German rap groups. There's hope for us yet!

K. I like some of the added scenes in the movie. I finally know where all the screenshots have been coming from now lol

EDIT: That's good to hear. I've been busy working on the Official Oddworld Wiki as an Admin Check it out when you can. I go by the same name as here but have a space between the two words: Radical Edward2

Well its the only Oddworld Wiki site so far. Next to Oddworld Library which can't be updated and has not been in about three years. But I try to fix the Wiki as much as possible with what information I can find on the Library and recorded observations in detailed notes while playing the Oddworld games at the same time and organizing the information to fit the Oddworld Wiki's standards. Anyways, in terms of "Official", I mean the only existing Wikia dedicated to the research and study of the Oddworld universe and franchise. It's kind of a hobby/goal of mine to make the Wiki site dedicated to my favorite videogame franchise as detailed and accurate as possible.

Yep! I've been secretly appreciative of the last five years' downtime as an opportunity to catch up with encyclopæding, but I haven't exactly seized it. No worries. There are better things for myself and Oddworld.

Just finised watching the movie and studying each scene of it. It was a mix between the good and bad ending with a twist that didn't seem to have Abe dying. Instead it seemed more like he was pushed so far with the Tear Extractor that he ruined the brew all together in the most random way possible. But by how the newscaster was mummbling in the end, I guessing he said that Abe messed up the brew. I'm gussing crying so hard that he wet himself?

In the game he could either survive or die, depending on whether you saved enough Mudokons or not. And by game canon he did survive, since he appears in Munch's Oddysee.

The Bad Ending happend. MO is just the result of a hallucination produced by Abe's blood loss.

The whole linear story would be the games with each time the good ending... seems pretty straightforward to me.

Exclamation THE HAND!!!

you know that when they read mystical info signposts or Directories they use their hand. I have two theories to why that might be related on how they got theier paw on the moon . First theory is that glukkon's always use mudokon's to do their dirty work, right? so what if, before development of any land, they used a giant gravity nuke to flatten the land, therefore ridding the land of anything hostile aswell. Then they left some cruddy mudokon to try and do it. Obiously the button was hand shaped. When he tries to fire it he aims it straight in the air and fires! it soar's into space and the DNA print from the mudokon's hand imprint's on the land (if it's ODD, it's possible)

Second theory: the mudokon's are an ancient civilization of magical alien's from the moon, and their queen was like the dude's who made the sphinx and wanted her civilization to be remembered as the tribe of that moon.

One of Oddworld's ancient high-tech civilisations sent a mudokon to a moon who, free from the effects of the debilitating Oddworldite in the planet's crust exhibited the species' natural super-mudokon abilities, becoming faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Also x-ray vision and laser eyes. Supermud then carved a paw print on the near side of the moon in defiance of those who would send his people on one way trips into orbit, and also to demonstrate his newly-acquired photo-artistic skills (apparently Oddworldite also reduces artistic ability to the grade-school tribal stick figure shit we've all seen before).

The interview in which we learned of all this has since been lost, but if I remember correctly, the story of Supermud ended with the destruction of his home planet of Oddworld and his arrival on an alien planet. There, hampered only by trace samples of Odworldite that were apparently propelled to superluminal speeds by Oddworld's destruction (yet were able to arrive entirely intact without fucking up the planet), Supermud would go on to join the Just Justice League of Justice until he was killed by expatriated glukkon billionaire Tex Tuther with an Oddworldite bullet.

A bunch of meteorites hit it while he was escaping from Rupture Farms and the craters just happened to form the shape of Abe's paw, it was fate (magic).

The spirits were suggesting that it was his fate to destroy Rupture Farms.

i reckon theres was a secret race of modukens on the moon that were like the ultimate beings of life and the king of this race wanted every1 on earth to see that they were the supreme beings so he got all the space muds to carve his right hand into the moon but mullock was jealous and scared that the slaves would stand up for themselves if they saw it so he built a massive anti chant machine and aimed it straight towards the moon so the next time someone chanted it would blow up the moon.
so after the space muds were done the king was very pleased so he planned an ancient ritural to bless the moon which involved all the space muds gathering around the edge of the palm and chanting unfortunately when they started a massive beam of red glowing light went straight towards the moon.
the king saw the beam of light and thought he was going to die anyway so he gathered the space muds and started chanting an ancient chant that would kill thier species but save the moon and it worked and mullock was pissed but he was still happy that the space muds had all died, he didnt see a point in destroying the moon anymore so he made a myth that it was always there.

and thats my theory
