I don't like thinking about Doomsday scenarios, but since we're dealing with Russia this does have potential to end very very messy. Russia hasn't been active in the war scene for years and suddenly they start an all out invasion.
If America starts to see this as a serious threat then we could be heading for Cold War 2. WW3 is unlikely to happen to soon unless Russia decides to attack more neighboring countries after Georgia.
In other news, two Dutch reporters died in Georgia today, so fuck Russia!

So a Doomsday scenario is only likely to occur if
Russia becomes active? Right. If America sees this as a serious threat? America sees
everything as a threat, haven't you noticed that they've been involved in almost every global, armed conflict, one way or another, since the end of WW2? I think it's more likely that WW3 breaks out because of American politics, not Russian.
And if Russia starts attacking more
neighboring countries, WW3 is bound to start, you say? Interesting, I don't recall anyone saying anything similar to that when the US decided to invade Iraq which
lies on the other side of the globe. Just face it, US politics have been stirring up every single political bee-hive in Europe, the Middle-East and Africa in the past 60 years just to keep tabs on the "Russian Bear". Then the Russian Bear roars back and shows that it's not asleep, after all and that's when everyone's fears of WW3 emerge! I think the most concerning factor in this all is the US's expansion politics, if that doesn't fuel a third world war, what will, then?
Also, Russia didn't "suddenly" start an all out invasion, you're forgetting Chechnya, they're still there you know, it's just that the media coverage shifted focus some 15 years ago, you need to keep up.
I know this turned into a political discussion and I've already said what I think about war - I'm not picking sides, but I'm
very fed up with seeing this rusophobia from people that live very, indeed very far away from Russia and real facts.
