I honestly don't think people should scan the images from the book. OWI have selected some images to be exclusive in their book and if they end up turning up on the internet, it's really eliminating the point. Some people might even decide to not buy the book if they can get the images on the net. And that is ripping OWI off. I hope that OWI enforces their copyright on this.

On the other hand if an image has been included in the book but it has been online before, then that's not a problem.

I'd like to see how the "native" creatures were thought up, ie. scrabs. I think it'd be interesting to see what the initial idea for a scrab was. I'd also love to see some level designs, perhaps ones that didn't make it into the final games.

But, in the end, an art book containing concept art, level designs, inspirations, and never-before-seen art would float my boat, ohyes.

hmmm, I think it should be a good thing to forbid scanned images from the book on the forums, and if someone do post some he will automatically get a warning and his post deleted.

Yeah, I agree with you.

I think that the scanning of the book would defeat the whole purpose of it being released. So I think that discouraging the scanning of it here is a great idea, Xavier.

...after all, they put "no unauthorised reproduction of contents" in books for a reason. :)

Concept art. *bobs head* Concept art. Even though my interest in the actual GAMES has waned, I still love to watch how the characters develop, so EARLY concept art would be good, too. I'd be interested to read how the characters were going to be in the very beginning, too - you know, before the constraints of the systems meant they had to change some things. And the ideas they scrapped- uhm, "put on hiatus", too (i.e "Sligstorm" ;) )

Yay for concept art! *bob*

Official info about Oddworld that finally clears up many loose ends and inconsitences. Like: What is the real reason Abe is blue? Where did the moon come from? That way Alf will have something to check before giving a new answer to an old question.
If there are official reasons, then Alf knows them. The real reason why Abe is blue is because they needed a way to make him stand out from the other muds on the game screen. But because they can't say that without destroying the illusion, Alf makes up a different excuse every time to be funny. The point is that it's not important to the mythos that Abe is blue. In the movies he'll probably look greenish like everyone else.

one of the many excuses (...sorry, reasons) that Alf has given. My point was simply that it is not important WHY Abe is blue. They changed his colour for practical reasons and then came up with the reason why later

can't wait to have this book in my hands

NDW I think the reason why Abe is blue IS important, simply thay can't give us the 100% true and developped reason because perhaps it would ruin a lot af the quintology plot

Yeah, who want's to see rainbow characters.

We all by now, each hero will be slitley diffret from there species Is Stranger even a Hero, he alway's reminds me of Snake Eater, same attuide, stly, and a your envroment, what you can do with it. I wish can get Metal Gear, is very interesting, but i have no PS2

If the gameplay graphic's are almost just as good as the CG, then in one of the FMV'S you might see Starnger jumping off something, and during his fall you get a fade effect from CG to acual gameplay graphic's. That would be good for an action game.

And I would realy like Stranger to have some sort of Sniper rifle, and you aim a Orc, and shooting him in right butt. And other character's notice. I'm looking forward to the thing's on Weaponary. Or shoot an Orc's boat, and see him sink into the water. Or throw a (What's the name) grenade thingy, and see the reactions of the surronding's to cuase some sort of mayham. Some nice puzzle bit's to dispose yer enemy.

this is a bit off topic but you are so right! I loved the way the transitions were made in the Abe games. It made it feel so much more natural that you went from the 3d FMVs to the 2d gameplay smoothly.

I'm with Xav on giving warnings to people who post images from the book. Sadly, there will probably be so many things to discuss on the artwork in the book, the members that don't get the book will inevitably feel left out. Just something to bear in mind.

Off-Topic, but continuing a discussion, I think Abe being blue is an important aspect of his character, like his stitched lips.

That is a wonderful idea Xav. We will definately include that in the rules once the book is released. It's only fair to OWI, and I think it shows our dedication as fans that we will be helping them by enforcing this rule.

Agree that book stuff should be posted in the spoiler section as well, as I'm sure the book will contain spoilers as such. And maybe to get around the fact that some members will feel left out if they don't have the book, an option could be that the member discussing the image has to provide an in detail description about it.

I am a little concerned with the issue of money pertaining to the Limited Edition of the book. Both Expose books, of Limited Edition were sold at $199 AUD. Now, that amount of money for a book is quite a lot. Will the Oddworld book cost the same amount?
