Those were only ever concept movies.
It was footage and it was made before the game was released. I never specified it was gameplay footage.

And you never specified it wasn't.

I posted that more for the benefit of the newer members who may not know.

Oh man I have never tought it would escalate into this.

Anyway, the more I think of it the more I hope we will see underwater levels in Munch's Exoddus. Come to think of it, can Munch breathe underwater or does he need to breathe air like dolphins?

He's an amphibian and he has lungs, so I suppose he requires to resurface for air.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't most amphibians breathe underwater through their skin?

Munch seems to be amphibious, or as close to amphibious as a creature on Oddworld can be, and he doesn't seem to have much problem spending long periods of time on land besides his incredibly limited movement.

So, it could really go either way, I suppose. On one hand, his skin is probably more rubbery like a dolphins and while gabbits were made to primarily live in water, they still need to come up for a breath every once in awhile. Toads can't breathe underwater like frogs can, have much more textured and thick skin, and don't require to be in water as often as most other amphibians. I know the toads I used to have rarely went in water, and when they did it was just to get a drink. And then you have frogs, who spend most of their time in water and moist places or they risk drying out, have slimy skin and can breathe underwater, but are still perfectly capable on land.

I think... it may be up to interpretation? I'm going to say it's some combination of the above and more. I think gabbits can breathe underwater as well as on land, but don't require being in or near water too often. When they're newly hatched water is likely the only place they can survive, though, seeing how much they resemble tadpoles.

BM is probably way more suited to talk about this than me, though.

Sure, just fetch me a Gabbit for my tables and I'll tell you all about its esoteric physiology.

A 2.5D Munch's Oddysee... I guess in this case it would have to go through several adaptations of gameplay in order to work well in 2.5D.

I never played the GBA game but... how it looks like?

It's isometric pseudo-3D, kind of like Pokemon. It strays quite far from the Munch storyline, offering a different, shorter story. Nevertheless, I thought it was quite good- it retains most of the gamespeak, the possession orbs and mudokon/fuzzle rescuing and plays similar to the XBox version, switching between characters etc. I was a bit disappointed it wasn't a direct port of the XBox game though, as the short adapted story really was quite slapdash and unnecessary.

I don't know if I'll consider playing the ports, but I heard that the first GBC game can be beaten in less than 30 minutes.

If you can get past the terrible sensitivity and lack of save points then you can probably manage it in about 20 minutes.

Yup. And if you get good enough at it, you can get through it all without dying once.
Definitely a good challenge to set oneself, I've only managed to do so twice.

The reason it strays from the console version's story is because, according to the manual, it actually takes place after it. So sort of a psuedo handheld sequel of sorts, but at the same time not really.

Well, Glockstar did go from being a rank to an individual in that game, as did Chump, so yes. ^^;
Although, had some rather punny and hilarious forest and factory names, that's for sure. Definitely kept the MO charm.
