It was horrible. The only decent part was when a crazed Pacino ran, shouted 'bye bye!' over his shoulder and nimbly hopped over a banister of some sort.

Well, that was also one of the worst parts.

No, Enchilado you don't have to own your own pair of glasses. They give them to you at the theatre, and you can elect to return them or keep them for the next time you're there.

And what do you mean you can't go to the theatre? I will not accept any of the following excuses:
A. Too poor
B. Too lazy
C. Would rather rent/download
D. Any other excuses you come up with that I didn't already list

True.
The last film I saw was Paranormal Activity, which wasn't in 3D, and would be pretty damn underwhelming if it was. Before that was Wild Things, which was damned decent (though I will admit before I actually thought about the metaphors, I didn't like it as much), before that was 9 and Zombieland, both of which were pretty mediocre.

So yeah, there's usually a grace period of at least a month before each half-decent film. Depends on how cut-throat of a critic you are, I spose. I have certain expectations of certain filmmakers.

All of this is irrelevant though. See D in former post.

I finally saw Sunshine. I was expecting a science fiction film with a ridiculous scientific basis for the high concept and Hollywood science everywhere else. What I got was a psychological thriller set in space with an ridiculous scientific basis for the high concept and Hollywood science everywhere else, though not quite as bad as I had thought. Weirdly, of all the things that were wrong, the one that really bothered me was that Harvey froze when exposed to the vacuum of space in seconds, citing the fact that it was -270 degrees Celsius or thereabouts. The problem being that in the Vacuum of space you aren't about to lose very much heat no matter how cold it is. Heat loss or gain as a result of temperature differences occurs via conduction, which will be negligible is space, especially over the period they were exposed. The only heat loss will be by radiation, which is not especially quick.

I liked Sunshine, even though it did drag quite a bit. The weird visual FX and camera work they used to "blur out" the psychopath annoyed the crap out of me. It was interesting, but that they continued to do it just irked me. I know I was supposed to think "Ooh stylized and trippy", but it just made my eyes hurt. What I did like was the complete lack of hope, and that they didn't skimp on the realism of just how unforgiving space travel is. From the very first mistake they made, you knew they were all completely screwed and that none of them would make it home.
